Finally, I have been waiting for these wheels ever since Anthony C. hooked me up with some experimentalones months ago! I am still riding those wheels, they have lasted me that long!
Spitfire have really stepped up the wheel game with these, I seen some big names skating the experimentals over a year ago, so spitfire have really took their time developing a wheel with the input from the best in the business.
Today I received 2 sets of the 101 Spitfire Formula Four wheels in my preferred size of 51mm. They make different sizes in 3 different shapes, Classic, Tablet & Full. Lets have a closer look at the Classic shape & the Tablet shape.
Classic Shape & Tablet Shape
The Classic Shape wheel, is your standard Classic shaped skateboard wheel
It has a slim riding surface for speed & control with curved side wall edges that should make some grind tricks easier to get in & get out of.
The Tablet shape is more of a square shaped wheel, the wheel is slightly thinner than the classic shape, but has a straight sidewall that really locks in to grinds like 5050′s & Smith grinds. The riding surface is slightly wider & in my opinion a wider riding surface is even more resistant to flat spots.
So which shape is better? Really depends what you like! Personally, I love the egg shaped classic shape, I think it just looks cooler. Wheels like this seems to slide better & pop a bit better, possibly due to the thinner riding surface. On the down side, I have flat-spotted wheels like this before, except for the Formula fours. For the Tablets, I like the overall thinner shape that seems lighter & really locks into the grind.
I cant wait to test out both shapes. The new formula also comes in a 99a version which has blue graphics. Both versions have a slightly off-white creamy color, which I think is pretty dope, especially after you first ride them & realize what wheels should be like.
The Spitfire Formula fours are now available at 8five2Shop, get your set before they run out!
Thanks again to my ninja Anthony, these wheels are AMAZING!
