Skateboarding & Macs in advertising

While strolling through Causewaybay today, I noticed there was a lot of stuff that use skateboarding & macs in advertising; 2 of the things I like.  Check this pic of an ad for a telecom company’s wireless service:

The skater caught my eye; I then took a closer look & its a Youtube page & a video of some sort of skateboarder.  Skateboarders are cool, but they get kicked out of almost everywhere.

Then I noticed it was a pic of Macbook pro, with the “Macbook Pro” nicely photoshopped out, & its running Windows XP.  Probably the Macbook pro here got bootcamp & booted WInXP?  Why can’t they use any other notebook, why does it have to be Macbooks?

Macbook pros are the most common notebook computer used in ads, but the apple logo & branding are always photoshopped out.

Its interesting to see how Skateboarding & Macs get bastardised this way.  Shortly after I saw this, an ad on a mini van for that had a duck on a skateboard for its logo;

I thought this was funny, “What the Duck?!” Its some moving company; I did not see the driver or the people in the van moving stuff with skateboards, tho.

Then at this store in causeway bay, I saw the most Fucked up bastardisation of skateboarding so far:

Sorry about the quality of the pics, I had to ’sneak’ these shots… But take a closer look at what the skater is wearing, they even set up a ‘demo’ unit.

These are “Dopies” (ha ha ha!!!)  Some new design for sandals that apparently seem good for skating.

Either I’m not keeping up with the times or t his shit is really fucking stupid these are for a different kind of skateboarder..  well, if you don’t mind getting your toes & feet skinned.

Please send me pics of bastardised Macs & Skateboarding if you come across them; would be interesting to see how many of you notice stuff like this.
