I’ve been having a lot of fun shooting pics with my iphone & then tweaking them & sharing them on Instagram, Flickr & Facebook; the apps available today allow you to have a lot of fun with the camera on your iphone & really makes your iphone “the best camera” - in my opinion, the “best camera” is the camera you have on you at the time you need to capture that special moment, & my iphone is ALWAYS on me. (I am writing this blog entry & uploading pics using my iPhone !)
Lets have a look at some of the photography apps I have on my iphone:
My favorite app to shoot & edit with is Camera+. This camera app has the ability to separate the focus & metering, which comes in handy sometimes. It also has a bunch of filters that can easily enhance your pics, JBS calls this the “handsome app”
Here is an evening shot I ran through the polarize & clarity filters on Camera+
Other apps worth mentioning are Pro HDR, Diptic & Autostitch
If you are using iphone4, the built in camera app has HDR, “ High Dynamic Range“, which basically takes 2 photos at different exposure levels & blends them together, so you get the whole “dynamic range” of light in your photo. Pro HDR is a step up from the built in iphone camera app & you can fine tune the effects to your liking.
Here is a pic of a sunset shot using Pro HDR (2 shots blended) & then run through Camera+’s polarize filter. Nice huh?
Now, Diptic is a fun app, if you ever wondering how you can make a mini collage of pics, diptic is what I use to make pics like this:
Diptic is A LOT OF FUN.
Here is another example of Camera+ ‘s XPRO C-41 filter, a shot I took on the train from Guangzhou last week; first, without the filter:
Now with the filter:
WOWS!!
Another app that I must mention here is Autostitch Panorama.
This app can stitch together a few pics & create fantastic panorama shots, the above shot was taken on a flight recently, 6 photos stitched together.
Other apps like Filterstorm, offers more tools to edit your photos, almost like photoshop.
With all these photo apps available for your iphone / ipad, you can have a lot of fun using them together to make creative pics & tell a story…
Check out my Flickr / instagram photostream & let me know what you think. I’d also like to know how you shoot & tweak your pics on your iphone, drop me a comment & let me know!
Happy shooting!
