Typical '50-'60 colonial facade on 1st floor, mixed with traditional chinese culture- a take away herbal tea store at entrance. Hard to come by these days.
I always just walk pass the store, last weekend i finally had the leisure. This noodle joint, Mun Yuen Kee, has one of the best stewed beef noodles in hong kong, in my opinion. I have heard stories about its history. Based on what I overheard from another costumer, two brothers used to run the business, until they split it in half for some reason, probably sthg to do with recession way back. The elder brother owns the flagship, where the photo is showing, well kinda, and hes been running it with his wife and family for decades. Those who knew the story, please correct me. Anyways, Gough street is made up of many back alleys and cul-de-sacs, i used to go to the office nearby, so i know the area pretty well. I was particularily intrigued by the ancient orient artifact stores and a couple small art galleries, definitely a great whereabout for sunday brunch.
