Yesterday i went to vote for the hong kong legistrative council election 2008. it felt good that i could vote for someone i trust, its like i do have a choice, therefore i should take part. Research says votes this year has declined a bitter 10% from the previous election 4 years ago, making this year the least votes since hong kong return to china in 97. The reason for that, well scholars say there are many, the declined economy, resolved hence lack of controversial govt policies i.e. open election time able, bad performances of existing candidates ie. liberal party, 2nd ladder candidates unfamiliar to citizens, and finally, the unfortunate incident where certain media and candidates took advantage of the research data from questionnaires, which were solely intended for academic reasons, resulting in a lot of confused voters walking into the booth. Despite all the potential difficulties, the candidate i vote for got elected, as a humble individual voting citizen, thats all that matters for me.
i really shouldnt be talking about stuff like this, just that it got my attention lately. Not to worry, strictly entertainment next time!
