Had a very busy week meeting people in the art world. There are a number of art fairs (Frieze, Zoo, ArtLondon, Bridge, etc) on here at the moment. I'll write more after the weekend but here's a few images of a couple of highlights from the main fair, Frieze. There are a hundred galleries showing work in a massive temporary pavillion right in the middle of Regents Park.
the chapman brothers doing illustrations on money. you had to give em the cash then they'd draw on it. so basically your 20 quid is instantly worth about 1000 quid. sweet!
yoga policeman. i don't know why but i really had to stop myself going over and kicking him in the head. probably because the pigs just banned me from driving....
This is George Baelitz, German painter. This one's probably worth a few million quid! Check out the freak art collectors. There were lots of kurazzeee art people there.
there were lots of artworks related to cars this year. Tracey Emin did one, Richard Prince too. This is the bonnet of a VW beetle.
This is julian Opie, you can spot his stuff a mile away. These were huge, looked great.
Hippie cannon.
Manga sold as fin art.
Models of giants. These would look nice in your living room...not.
Some freak. Some of the art was such bullshit but it was very entertaining.
This is the Richard Prince Dodge Charger with some fat chick who stood there all day shaking her tits around.
I am a huge car fan and actually have my own American muscle car, it's a '68 Pontiac. I keep it locked up at my brothers place in England.
Somehow though, I don't think I'll be able to sell mine at an art fair for 2 million quid...!!
If I ever do make it as a big time artist I think I'll just take all my old crap, DVD's, records, furnitue, shove it in the Tate Modern and sell the lot for a lot more than I'd get for it on eBay.
Awww yeeeaaaah!
