Photos by AZLINA ABDULLAHIT IS not very often that urbanites get to have a picnic in an urban park – right in the middle of a shopping mall.Guests at the recent launch of self-serve cafe D'lish did just that.Armed with picnic baskets filled with gour-met take-away meals from
D’lish and a picnic mat, guests sat themselves comfortably on the floor
of the Bangsar Village I concourse.
Hands-on lesson: Guests learning how to decorate a cupcake.
While some people nibbled on their roast beef sandwich, potato salad
and even Peking duck wrap, others wandered around the urban park to get
henna tattoos, massages, foot re-flexology, cupcake decorating lessons
and even caricatures.
Among the local personalities seen lazing
around on their picnic mats were Craig Fong, Ida Nerina, Xandria Ooi,
Reza Zainal Abidin, Adrian Seet, Putri Aliya Soraya and Putri Zehan
Marissa.“I just love this. It’s a fabulous idea. I especially
love the cupcakes, which I decorated myself,” said a contented Ida
Nerina.Munching on a bag of potato chips, actor Craig Fong declared that the picnic was heavenly and heart-warming.
Goodies to set the mood: The picnic baskets offered to guests for the urban picnic at the D’lish launch. Serena C was the emcee for the afternoon while Otam, Paolo Delfino and DJ Boon provided the entertainment on stage.
D’lish made full use of the urban park set-up, using it for a charity festival the following two days. The Delicious Group Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Benjamin Yong said
the group, including Delicious Cafe, had a strong base in Bangsar
Village so it was a good way to give back to the community. All proceeds from the charity event will be channelled to the Kids' For Kids’ Charity Foundation.
