As promised, here we go!
First leg of my trip - San Diego!
Couldn't visit this beautiful city without going to the more-than-a-century old Hotel Del Coronado where Marilyn shot Some Like It Hot!
Here she was in front of the hotel. The paps existed even then? Look at her! Way more classy than Lindsay, Paris, et al put together!
So here's what this piece of heritage looked like in the 1800s:
And here's what it looked like the day I visited:
And THIS ocean-front villa's supposedly where the Beckhams stayed when they visited. GASP. I almost leapt over the fence to see if they were still there!
Apparently the ghost of Kate Morgan still wanders the halls of The Del.
The story goes - pregnant Kate who was estranged from her husband checked into the Del Nov 25, 1892 and never checked out. Some say she hung herself in her room.
Reports of ghostly happenings have been circulating at The Del ever since, all thought to be connected to her death.
Creepy, but people actually request to stay in THAT room! We only dared to take a pic outside. Meet my friend Amanda (I'll tell you her story in my next entry):
This was Kate Morgan
Brrr... the place creeps me out to be honest .They even have a shop called Kate, selling good old American brands like Michael Kors. Go figure.
They made a pair of chairs too for some president cuz he was waaaay bigger than everyone else and they didn't want him to feel awkward. Now THAT's top notch hospitality! Check them out:
Teehehehe
Here's what I learnt about the name of the hotel:
Coronado = Crown in Spanish. In case you wanted to know.
Hope you enjoyed the Del as much as I did!
I know it's been a while since I'd updated! Be back asap promise!!!
