To be honest I don't read as much as I would like. The only times that I tend to pick up a book lately are when I travel on planes or on a long train trip. However, when I do read, it is usually at a time that the book and the author which I am reading is most relevant to my current situation. After a long hiatus, I picked up "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac. Being that I am somewhat at a crossroad in my on life--on a journey looking for something, this book is now much more relevant to me than when I first attempted to read...Read more
It keeps getting better and better! Friday it was Mobb Deep; Saturday it was Fab 5 Freddy; tonight, Sunday, I got to see the Ghostface Killa aka Iron Man aka Tony Starks of the Wu-tang Clan perform. SO DOPE!!!
He is hands down one of my favorite artist of all time, his lyrics are both audio and visual, you can almost visualize his rhymes without a music video.
I gotta say that the sound system at the venue was not great, his mics weren't as crystal as they could have been, but this man's passi...Read more
Like Wow!
Tonight I meet a true legend of hip-hop, modern art, and pop culture. He was the host of MTV's first hip-hop show in the late 80's, he produced Wildstyle a seminal documentary about hip-hop culture, worked with Debbie Harry of Blondie, was a friend of Andy Warhol and Jean Michel Basquiat.
Fab 5 Freddy is a true pioneer, and continues to spread the message of the roots of hip-hop culture world-wide.
I grew up watching his shows, his movies, seeing him in the magazines; he has had a profound ...Read more
Last night I went to the MOBB DEEP show at Racks, had a great time!
BIG PROPS to Min, oh yeah and of course to Mobb Deep also, GOOD CROWD, GOOD ENERGY!
The only thing that baffled me was the trailer trash that came out. No disrespect, I have just never seen them in Shanghai before. But I guess when you are putting on a good thing, people just come out of the wood works.

Lately I have a bit more free time on my hands, so I have made a conscious effort to explore the city of Shanghai and China more extensively. Yesterday I ventured into Pudong a.k.a. PuJersey to some. I went to Century Park which is only a 20 minute train ride outside of downtown. I gotta say, it was like entering a whole other world. It's no Central Park, nor is it Yoyogi, but I was quite impressed. The only downside is that there is a ¥10RMB fee, this is extremely cheap, but it feels wrong to pay to gain access to a public park, anyh...Read more

Flickr is down in China, so I decided to post my "photo of the day" here instead.
This view is from 97th floor of the Park Hyatt Shanghai. I recommend the 100 Century Avenue restaurant in this hotel to anyone who visits Shanghai. The view is breath-taking, and the fresh peppermint tea delicious!

I got tired of the old yellow wheels on the "black mamba", so I gave her a bit of a face lift; going for a more traditional look, white wheels by FLV x Dia Compe offset by red walled tires on the front, Mature & Sexy. Well I guess real adults drive cars, but anyhow.
I took her out for a spin around Shanghai this afternoon Great ride, beautiful weather, the only problem is that I had a puncture flat within the first 30 min. Oh well, still great fun!
peace,

Still in the works but almost complete.
A few months back I began working on giving this stray dog that I found in the streets of Shanghai a makeover. He was already pretty pimp, but I wanted to give him a bit more swagg. It has taken much longer than expected, but I am happy with the outcome thus far.
