Malaysian Vacation Day 3.3

As the sun set Saturday, I was relieved. It had been very hot and I could tell that I had been pretty sunburned. But so what? I was on vacation, and it’s not like it was going to kill me.

I had really enjoyed watching the Conemasters practice as well as looking at the Mean Machines cars on display.

I was pretty tired, and felt quite nasty on a hygiene level. I had been sweating profusely most of the day, and it was becoming, uh, obvious.

I had been offered a ride back to the hotel to freshen up, but I knew that the shower and air conditioning would prove to be the end of my evening, so I resisted their charms for the time being.

I’m glad I did, because darkness brought a whole new experience.

There were two major but interconnected things at work Saturday night.

One was a pre-event party to be held on the Conemasters course. Ben’s good friend Saintz Raphael had come in from KL to be one of the DJs, and Ben had also organized a local club of audio enthusiasts to set up something truly remarkable.

40 cars all lined up and playing the music from the DJ booth.

It was LOUD. I enjoyed feeling the bass hit me in the chest while I walked around looking at the cars.

Which were again amazing, but for a different reason: it was dark. A s cool as many of these cars looked in the daytime, they got even more special at night.

The same goes for the Mean Machines cars, and I was very glad I took another stroll through the show. So here are the photos I managed to take that have anything resembling focus.

Some are blurry because of the bass coming out of the speakers I was trying to photograph.

Notice the TV?

CJ-7!!!

That last one deserves special mention. The seats are clear acrylic. Probably not very comfortable, but it definitely is something to see!

I got back to the hotel about 1AM, which was ‘early.’ I took a very cool shower, noting that I was quite red around the face, neck, and arms. I figured that the next day I would take it easy on the direct sunlight.

But it had been an amazing day.

I had seen so much stuff that it took three blog entries to do it justice!

And the event was only half over!!!
