Quote of the Week – Entitlement

There are so many times we can’t help but compare ourselves to our friends, our peers, our co-workers, our family and there’s always an unnerving feeling of dissatisfaction. More often than ever, I’m at the stage where all my friends are coupling up and on their path to getting married, planning weddings and planning families. It is very easy to get caught up with other people’s lives when yours is so different or not at that same stage.

I had a conversation with a friend enroute to Muskoka last weekend and we were talking about this generation’s feeling of entitlement and how our parents’ generation as non-English speaking immigrants managed to accomplish so much despite their shortcomings and how selfless they were about raising us and giving us a much better life to assimilate in North America.

Whether it may be finances, love, career, life or something else that you mark as success, just think about appreciating the fact that you can be raised in a part of the world where you don’t see 8yr old girls selling their bodies to put food on the table or 11yr old boy soldiers. We work hard and reap the rewards, I’ve always wanted things for my life but have never expected to get it by any other means than hard work. Luck has definitely come into the equation and God’s blessing sealed the deal.

I’m just thankful that I’ve lucked out with a few good weeks on XIII and have built great friendships on set. More good news in the following post! Stay Tuned!
