For the last episode of MyEG’s Xtra Time, the producers penned me against Marion for the Bring It Challenge segment of our show. While Marion is in preparation for her highly anticipated wedding (Congrats!) I think winning a challenge was not exactly on the top of her list.. We checked out GAC Adventure in Serdang (near Mines) and they had prepared an ENTIRE day of activities for Marion and I.
We did human orbing (rolling down a hill inside a big bubble ball) and also archery (which I haven’t done since Camp Narnia in grade 7). But powerbocking really peaked my interest. I don’t think many people have heard of this term before and I had to look it up on the internet to find out what it means. Powerbocking is considered an extreme sport or for those who enjoy an extra challenge while they power through a good cardio session. They’re power loaded stilts with the use of a spring loaded mechanism. I must say, one of the great things about being part of the show is the exciting stuff we get to do.
(feeling like a baby walking on stilts for the first time)
They call it “Gacgaroo” for its Kangaroo like features but it does feel more like I’m emulating a hoof-ed creature. It was a very unsettling feeling at first because you have to always lift up ur legs to stay up and that can be incredibly taxing on your quads and even back.
Its really interesting to see what kind of technology has been made possible for recreational sports. I was told this technology was derived from the prosthetic development for athletes without lower limbs. Anyhow, I had loads of fun and you’re gonna have to check out the episode to see who won all the challenges after all.
Despite having to wake up at 6am to look half decent for this shoot, it was definitely worth it!
Remember to tune into ESPN for MyEG Xtra Time on Friday!
