The always fashion-forward Malaysian mag Oxygen asked me to take part in their shoot for their coverstory while I was in KL. This time we were gonna try something a little different and let the story + clothes do the talking. Petaling Street has been in the news as of late because of its iconic location being challenged by talk about new developments coming in vs. refurbishing the historical area.
Up until the shoot, I had never scoured Petaling Street the way I had before. We found lots of great streets, nooks and crannies and places that had been there for decades. One of the shopkeepers told us how astoundingly high his rent was for a small half unit. But that’s the price for prime location. Aside from the main street crowded by tourists and foreign workers posing as local Malaysians (its true, most are from Pakistan or Myanmar), there are side streets that sell stolen goods early in the morning or even restaurants that are some of the best kept secrets in town. I had such a fab time.

Its always a little funny to me when I’m wearing Fall/Winter collections in Asia because we don’t really have the weather to support wool, turtlenecks or even boots, but the combination of clothes worn for the shoot were incredibly comfortable. I absolutely love the fringe dress. They are all from DKNY!! Hope you guys like this one!
