Hurry and Wait

So clearly I’m not used to sitting around and having empty days…it’s a big change from my crazy schedules in Asia, booking flights every other week and coordinating shoot dates in different cities. I kinda freaked out this morning thinking that I misplaced my passport, simply because I haven’t seen it for a few months. But then again knowing that I’m going to be in the same city for a few months helps me plan a little better.

I’m much more reliable and I’m open to committing weeknights (especially now that I’m taking courses). I’ve been spending time with my cast members and we’re really starting to bond quite a bit. Its always super fun to see them and as we’re getting to know each other better you can start to see that we’re comfortable making jokes and teasing each other.

I had a great shoot date last weekend and this weekend they were wrapping their final scenes for the pilot episode. Although the producer/director has given me the greenlight to do small mentions, I think its better for me to do the announcement after he does. But I can share that this will be a major Asian-cast with all of us having roots from different countries: Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, Hong Kong and Korea. Its a pretty good-looking cast too and I know we’re definitely going to have a few heartthrobs resulting from this. We’re a good blend of Asian cultures and even if we’ve all taken such different paths to get here, I’m glad we’re all in this together. From cast to crew, everyone is absolutely passionate about this project and I know it has legs to go far. I’m just hoping that we can bring this from North America to Asia. (crossing fingers) One can be hopeful right?

In the meantime, I’ve been working on a scene from Neil Labute’s The Shape of Things. Great to do some stage workshops and working on the craft. My peers are so encouraging and they understand the necessity of always taking classes and always improving yourself. Its my attempt of stepping up my game since I don’t have the techniques down pat. As June rolls by, I’ve got lots of classes to keep me busy and hopefuly more jobs to get me working.

Sorry I haven’t blogged as often but I’m hoping I’ll get a little more inspiration. The current Malaysian gov’t is really making me itch for a rant: brain drain, minimum wage, and scholarships. Sigh. Perhaps another one when I’m feeling a little patriotic again. (I do have a love for the country, don’t get me wrong.)

after you're done ranting about Malaysian politics, you can come to HK and rant about the situation here. :-P
