Now I have been touring all over the place since 1996 with one project or another.
But last year was my first year to hit the street festival circuit specifically with my show THE OLD GUY.
The illustrious Chuncheon International Mime Festival held every May in South Korea
For those unfamiliar with how a festival works, be it street, stage or circus, it all begins with the home base
This is where you would sit down, talk schedule, artists and get paid. This is also where, if the organizers are feeling a bit generous, you can pick up a snack or two.
And then the foundation of all good festivals, THE VOLUNTEERS!!
Every artist is assigned a personal translator/ city guide. Most of them were students from the local university.
I had the awesome Wonheeeeeeeeee! (Extra vowels courtesy of the writer)
Not only do they help you find great food, tasty drinks, communicate with other staff...apparently they can dance like maniacs as well
Here they were doing the CIMF dance!
The Collaboration
There was some sort of battle that takes place between all the jugglers in the festival so I was involved as well (though I'm really not much of a juggler)
So we spent a few hours rehearsing for the show.
It's nice to see that no matter what part of the world that I'm in, performers love their trunks and vintage cases!
