Events Asia 2012

Events Asia 2012 unfolded on Manila.. This is still one of the best event related conferences in Asia. This year I had the privilege of being the Conference Chair.

As the Conference Chair for Events Asia 2012,  I was in charge of the educational aspect of the event. I developed the slate of speakers, the topics and generally oversaw the educational content of the conference. I was incredibly lucky to have such amazing talent and quality speakers from which to choose.

the speakers

From the moment I sent the call for speakers, I was inundated by abstracts from knowledgeable experts from around the world keen to share their experience and knowledge with Asia. From only 250 CSEP’s (certified special Events Professionals) worldwide we had 10 of them at Events Asia. Our illustrious slate of speakers also included 3 ISES International ex presidents and 6 ISES Chapter ex presidents. Our keynote was from “the godfather of events” Dr Joe Goldblatt discussing the Future of Events in Asia.

Dr Joe Goldblatt and RR

Another popular speaker was Ms Lena Malouf CSEP (if Dr Joe is godfather than she is the ‘godmother’) giving usable advice on how to run a profitable event business. We had 10 speakers from the USA 2 from Australia 2 from the UK, 3 from Hong Kong and several local speakers from Manila.

Once again the team at Events Asia and Next Step Events stepped up to the task and created an amazing program with great entertainment, great food and amazing hospitality.

The Conference Organizer Annaliza Laxamana shown brightly in her unfurled wings as she greeted her guests. I am once again amazed at her dedication to helping raise the standards of events in the Philippines and the rest of Asia. I look forward to the next Events Asia  in 2014.

Here is our list of international speakers I would like to thank them once again for their time and commitment to the industry.

Conference Chair, Robert Rogers CSEP’s message to the delegates

In my role I have also offered advice on management and styling to the event team at Next Step. From what I have seen so far today Events Asia 2012 is headed to becoming the best event related conference inAsia.

As part of my CSEP I am dedicated to raise the standards of events as well as the level of professionalism within the event community. For those that don’t know what a CSEP is, it stands for Certified Special Event Professional. This certification is the hallmark of achievement within the special events industry. It shows experience, dedication, professionalism but above all it shows that the events industry, our peers our colleagues recognize us to be experts in our field. There is but 208 current CSEPs worldwide. I am proud to say at Events Asia 2012 we have 11 of those here to share their wealth of experience and of knowledge with you.

I attend many event related conferences for speaking also as a delegate. I have tried to take my experience of these conferences and bring the best ones to you… Many of the speakers we have here I have seen speak before and I can attest to the value they brought to me and to my business and I know that they will have something to share with you. In putting this slate together I have tried not to focus on immense ideas of world wide tourism or best practices for giant festivals but rather on solid deliverables that we as small and medium sized business can take and put to use in our everyday business and lives. I have also tried to look for trends I see developing overseas and that are coming toAsia. Trends that you as delegates of Events Asia will now be on the cutting edge of as they mature here. I have tried to keep a fair balance of inspirational, managerial and of productive topics.

At this point I wanted to highlight a few of our speakers and their topics but I didn’t know where to begin as honestly all of them have valuable lessons for us. I will point out however we have some recent award winners among them.

Last year’ Mr. Eddie Diaz CSEP , best producer of the year from Event Solutions Spotlight Award

More recently Esprit Award for best catered event for Kelly Early CSEP and Vince Early CSEP

And of course Esprit Award Inspirational person of the year Lori Hill

Not to say the other speakers are not award winners as well.. Robert Sivek CSEP and his Meeting House companies must ave a good 10 or 20 awards under their belt and if we started listing the awards from Lena Malouf CSEP or Dr Goldblatt FRSA we could be here all day…

Ladies and gentlemen you are in fine company for this event. Grab them in the hall ask them questions learn from them, they don’t bite and they are happy to share.

You may be asking how did a guy like you get into such fine company. I will let you in on a secret.. ISES

The International Special Event Society

Every one of your speakers, the conference chair and the event organizers are all ISES members.

The International Special Events Society is a worldwide group of event professionals who are dedicated and educated to deliver creative excellence and professionalism to the special events industry.

Glad to find other performers and artist... I\'m a magician with some circus skills although I hardly perform anymore as I am too busy producing live events.
