A New Standard for Chinglish

I became an instant fan of Ms. Ling as I stumbled across her blog. Bai Ling is the new standard for Chinglish. She is the master of Chinglish. Her blog must be read to be believed:

"When I stand on the edge of the cliff, it feels like if there is just a little touch of the wind, then it will take me away to the lights and burns my memory, or maybe I will landed on a beautiful woman's bed in her soft bedroom with her naked body and soul and beging a hot sex and romance, the reason why I say this, is because the new rule of if it is the same sex couple in love then you can not get married, first of all, it just shows the people from the moon how silly human beings are on earth, same sex if you fall in love then you can not get married?"

What an amazing run on sentence with a beautiful mix of tenses? Not to mention what a timeless statement on gay marriage?

"I am writing my book in tha sunlight..."

New article discovered!

"I got an e-mail from my mom, so sweet, she just learned how to use e-mail, she asked me am I going to find my husbend this year? Well I told her Yes! All these years I disappointed her, because I am still not married, how come I often ask myself and what kind of man I would like to have a family with and merrying?"

Nice new nouns and bold new verbs. Don't miss "merrying."

You must love Bai Ling. She is a true inspiration for writers. If she can blog shamelessly and avidly, you can too! She is the living dictionary of Chinglish:

This entry is written in memoriam of my my beloved professor Julian Boyd, with whom I took his "Philosophy of Grammar" class twice at Berkeley. He would have loved to read Ms. Ling's blog:

Hey, at least Bai Ling has an excuse--English is an acquired language, and a lot of the mistakes she makes in English probably couldn't happen in Chinese, given the differences between the two language families. In my case, however, as a native born speaker of English, I wonder what my excuse could be? (Maybe I could plead ignorance of the niceties of English grammar since I have never taken a grammar class in my life. As a writer, it might be helpful. Then again, maybe not.)

hmm, how would any of our blogs sound if we wrote them in Chinese? Bai Ling may be a fashion nightmare at times, but i'll give her a pass on her grammar. ;-)
