BJ "touristy" spots ....

Here are my twocents on how I would rank Beijing's "touristy" spots

So called "Must-Sees":

1. Summer Palace 頤和園

1. Forbidden City 故宮 / Tiananmen Square 天安門廣場

1. Great Wall (Badaling is the most tourist friendly section with Cable Cars) 八達嶺長城

1. Ming Tombs 明十三陵

a model landscape of the tombs of the 13 Ming emperors ...

1. Olympic "Bird's Nest" Stadium

1. Temple of Heaven 天壇 (the other five I would agree are "must-sees" .... Tiantan is definitely the one I would drop first if short of time) .... I was bored last time I went there ...

Pat's other Favs:

1. Hou Hai  后海 (beautiful lakes and traditional hutongs by day / bars and bands by night)

2. Panjiayuan Antique & Flea Market 潘家園舊貨市場 (buzzing on Saturdays and Sundays) .... the area I'm living

3. Wangfujiang & Donhuamen (Night Market / Eat Street) 東華門街王府井大街西邊

Can you spot the hungry fat git?

1. SOHO Jian Wai 建外 (Beijing's Roppongi)

2. Wanjing 798 Art Village 望京 798 (Studios, Gallery / Cafes / Wine Bars, Gift & Book shops)

3. Gong Ti Bei Lu - Stadium Area  朝陽區工體北路 (Beijing's Club Scene)

4. Beihai Park  北海公園 (nice lakes and scenery)

5. Long Tan Hu Park  龍潭湖公園 / Beijing Amusement Park

Beijing Subway system is great ... you can travel to anywhere on the whole network for just 2rmb ... and they are opening more lines this year .... it's ace!
