i always dont like waiting in any government office, especially, the US government (actually, hong kong government service centre provides the best service in the world, they are fast and efficient). they are slow, rude and really really slow. usually, those security guards just sit there and "black face" to people with their authority.
however, the other day, i went to a social security place with my father, the security guard there changes my thought. he is a black guy but really funny and helpful. he makes sure everyone knows what's going on, especially to the elderly and foreigners. while we were waiting, he started talking to some of us and tell us jokes. the time pass by real fast when he is around. then, suddenly, one of the people asked him, "oh, you really like your job", "sir, this is what i am best in" he replied. it reminds me - no matter what you do, as long as you enjoy it, you can still have fun. i mean, being a security guard is definitely a boring job, sitting or standing there for straight 8-10 hours, waiting all the strangers come by and ask you the same type of questions everyday, it must not be challenging. but this guy, he enjoys the time and being with people. he has fun and he makes the people around him to have fun as well. that's all matter. your attitude can change, can make a difference.
a lot of times, we forget why we start this, or why we end up like this. we start to lose all the passion and curiosity of everything. then, we just say to ourselves - c'est la vie! but no, that's not true, we can still make a difference if we want to!!
