Well, I'm back from Thailand hot hot hot!! @_@, lots of meetings and haven't gotten a chance to update my blog in the past week or so. Stayed in a beatiful hotel that my client hooked me up with called the Metropoliton - HUGE rooms! So if you decide to stay in Bangkok, look up this hotel and stay there it's really nice. At the moment I'm directing a 3D Animation for a client and it's really exciting because it's one of my favorite mediums to Direct mainly because you because there is so much more control with the angles of the camera and you can place them in areas you normally wouldn't be able to when you shoot live action. I love using shots that normally you couldn't do with regular camera. I've been quite busy building my new website which is coming around the corner, Directing and concept design for clients as well and writing a screenplay that I'm going to Direct.
Here's a concept design that I completed last week. This image took me about 2 hours to paint. It's more rough painting style. I used about 10 layers in total in Photoshop, multiple brushes and tried to use a unique style that combined that dark edgy film style look to it. Photoshop can be so quick to use if you know how to use it right with the right tools. It's basically combinations of different layers and brushes - use alot of multiply and overlay layers they work really well - also use an angle brush that's faded on both sides. For highlights use the dodge and burn tool on edges.
The Hong Kong comic convention was great - hanging out with my good friends @ AnD, passing out flyers etc. and meeting a ton of people. If you missed it, make sure you go next year!! I'll be getting a chance to upload some video soon! Hope everyone is doing well, "alive" and not dead ;)
