Hi everyone,
So finally I have been able to sit down and look at the scanned negatives of my latest project of a diabled home in Thailand. I shot the project about 5 days before I departed Bangkok. Mind you, its pretty disturbing. Its a reality check for me about how fragile life is.
The facility only houses male patients, who are mentally disabled and/or physically disabled. I heard about the project first time from my students who went to shoot for their final project. So I asked for the information and went there to speak with the people who ran it, and asked for permission to do it.
Most of the guys there have no family, and many of them came because of their reckless behavior, riding a motorcycle at a high speed without a helmet. Or some just fell off from the building that they worked at. The place was under staffed, because of the insufficient fund received from the government.
it was quite sad to see lives without future and hope. Many of the patients helped one another by feeding, and showering the ones who were not capable of doing it themselves.
Some of the patients were tied up to their beds, or at the poles cos of their erratic behaviors.
Take a look and see what you think!!
I hope this project will raise an awareness to society at large. I hope to also exhibit it and donate teh sales to the place.
I hope you all will learn something from the pictures...so spend life with more care and safety.
Until then,
Ohm
