Film buffs are spoiled for choice once more as more than 80 movies from here and around the world will be screened at this year’s Cinemanila International Film Festival.
Now on its 13th year, the country’s largest and longest-running international film festival spearheaded by Filipino filmmaker Tikoy Aguiluz returns to the Market! Market! Cinemas in Taguig to showcase the best of Philippine and world cinema — from the current toasts of the local independent cinema scene to award winners and favorites at the world’s top festivals like Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, Venice, Sundance, and Busan.
“This year marks the second year of our relationship with Taguig,” Mr. Aguiluz told reporters. “It is our hope and wish that the Cinemanila International Film Festival will continue to grow with the City of Taguig so that we will be able to realize our mission to bring world cinema to the Philippines and Philippine cinema to the world.”
Cinemanila was last held in Taguig in 2009. Last year, the festival had screenings at the Robinsons Movieworld in Robinsons Galleria in Quezon City. Prior to that, Cinemanila was held in Makati before it moved to the Gateway Cinemas in Cubao in 2007 and 2008.
