Hi, prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /
My name is Muriel, I’m French (that’s why I apologize for my English !!!) I’m a big fan of asian cinema, and I would like to work in HK movie business.
I would like to begin this blog by resuming some events who were important in my life.
In 2006, I was student in Information and Communication in Nice (on the French Riviera). I came to the prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /Cannes festival (20km of my home). A friend gave me tickets for Asian films like . I was very surprised to see Daniel Wu wanting for the same movie nearby me !!!
Then, I tried very hard to found an accreditation for the film market. I succeed to find one for the last days, but everything begun to close. So, I came to the press conference of Johnnie To’s . I saw Louis Koo, Simon Yam and Vincent Tse too. There, I met a great guy : Frederic Ambroisine. We talked a lot about Asian cinema and became really good friends.
Since that day, my life change a lot.
I always dream to go to Hong Kong. So, I found a press accreditation for the HKIFF 2007. I was journalist for Cinemasie, a web site who exclusively talk about Asian cinema. (http://www.cinemasie.com). Frederic asked a friend to accredit me for the Filmart. So I became consultant for Paris Cinema, a French festival.
Frederic introduced me to a lot of people. He helped me to find my way in the festival.
So, with my passes, I went to the press conference of Park Chan-Wook and Rain for , and Tony Leung’s conference for the Entertainment expo. I went to all the Lunches or presentations organised by asian productions… I met French producers who became friends too. I went to the French party for Luc Besson’s , where I saw Donnie Yen , Lou Ye,…
I stayed a little longer in Hong Kong for visiting. I felt like I found my home.
This travel was incredible.
Few months after, Frederic asked a friend of him (a producer) to accredit me for the Cannes Market. So I became the assistant of Eric Fantone, the head of development of MU Films. I met again the French producers of HK filmart, and some friend that I have met last year. I went to all the Asian party. When you go to a party you can have a discussion more easily with professionals, so it was very interesting. I have seen , and some Korean movies.
In September 2007, I leaved Nice to come to Paris for studying cinema in university. It was a big progress for me because previously I was studying communication, journalism,…and a little bit cinema (I have a Master 1 and a licence of “Science of Information and Communication”). But now I’m studying only cinema !!! I went directly in the 3 rd year, so at the end of the year, I’ll have a Licence of Cinema.
I have already directed 2 shorts films !!! (see the pictures of the second one)
It was a small resume of big events since the last 2 years.
