MissyK*'s Valentines Day Top Choices

So another week passes by . . .

CNY was real quiet and COLD, apparently HK hasn't been this cold for quite sometime around 10 years or so. . . I was brought up in the Carribean's so this weather seriously takes its toll on me, but then again its perfect for gearing up for Valentines Day and the warmth, love and birdies singing and so on . . . Speaking of which, my own plans for Valentines Day isn't so much about what you do, rather than who you do it with. I told a couple of friends that I'll do whatever the tic to my toc wants to do and it would probably be fast food with a movie - my girlfriends almost chocked. Why shouldn't it be enough? If really Valentines is all about spending time with the one you love? . . .

Thus here are my top choices for Valentines Day, inclusive of presents and things to do:

VERO ChocolatesThese guys are the REAL DEAL folks, not just some counter chocolate you can get your hands on at any supermarket, so much so that they are extremely exclusive even the premium supermarkets in Hong Kong haven't the privilege of gracing their shelves.

Made from the finest cocoa beans, with passion for excellence minus the preservatives plus the fact that each of these are made FRESHLY everyday. My personal favorite is the XOCOLATL,(freshly crushed and powdered hot chocolate mix)simply coz you can add the note of "to warm you up with sweet love during this cold valentines day" Even better is the a whole set of jars which makes for the perfect  Valentine's gift for any chocolate lover. There are mallows, lemon drops, noccioline crunch, orange grissini and xocolatl in one set.

Talking about exclusivity, these can only be found in selected Lane Crawford stores across Hong Kong. Or ordered directly through VERO Chocolates, for more information you can reach them on 2559 5882 or info@verochocolates.com , http://www.verochocolates.com

SAVE A LIFEI often think when we spend our cash of the opportunities we could create if we had spent it else where. Last year for Hannuka/Christmas I gave all my family and some close friends a gift of "saving a life". One got a elephant, another a tiger, another a child in India and so on - each of them you were able to get the correspondence and keep up to date with how things were going for the life you helped save. The only catch was the first three months were paid by me, then the choice was in their hands to continue it or not. Only $1 USD or $10 per month . . .

Three years ago I didnt have the luxury of affording a lavish gift for my man, so I called my old friend who created and now runs THE HONG KONG DOG RESCUE and said, "Sally will you give me a dog, one that really needs a home and one who could use it more than any other in your rescue." She asked if I wanted to meet them and come down to the rescue, I said no and that it was satisfactory enough knowing I saved a life and the one that needed it most! Today Sandy is 3 years and four months old . . . saving a life has given us so much joy

So this year I convinced Cordelia Choy and her son Ilya to join me to visit the Hong Kong Dog Rescue, see its cold very very cold and a lot of lives need warmth, love and caring brought to them . . . So I asked Sally if any of the dogs at the rescue needed fostering? . . . meet little BUSTER the half Rotweiler and German Shepard Mix . . . He has already grown double his size and well my man and I saved a life for Valentines Day thats simply more romantic to me then money wasted on an expensive dinner and drinks. . .

My top dinner choices are the take away's placed in a carrier bag or basket of sorts and taken to a beautiful destination to eat, in this weather definitely bring warm warm blankets to wrap up in with your special someone:

BEACHES Tai Long Wan, Shek Ko, Tung Ping Chau, Kiu Tsui, Deep Water Bay, snuggle up and listen to the waves and lye back starring at the stars . . . maybe if your lucky enough you'll see a shooting star while your at it . . .

PEAKS Hong Kong Island Peak - sit out of the crowded areas up the long path at the highest point in the Peak and over look the whole of HK in all its beauty. Alternatively there is Kowloon Peak as well . . . more info can be found here : HK Outdoors

Well thats all for now folks and folkets! Wishing you all the happiest and warm loving Valentines Day!
