Wish I could make it to NYC for the Wong Kar-Wai event. I've just been watching his movies again this past week for a Leslie Cheung piece I'm working on for my blog here at AnD. He is hands down my fav Hong Kong director. Yeah, I know he's not your typical Hong Kong director, but nevertheless I really like his stuff. Got to love those themes of the impossibility of love, all those missed opportunities in life, the bittersweet nature of existence and our isolation from one another. If you go, please report back to us here on AnD about what he said. My only reservation is about Blueberry Nights--the reviews have been disappointing. I hope the film isn't too weak. Here I've been going on about WKW to all my friends and if the only things they see of his is his American film, and it isn't up to the quality of his Hong Kong pictures, I'll have some explaining to do.
