I just got this in the email box (what better reason to give thanks on this day). For those of you in Seoul , Henry Yoo has organized a John Cho / Michael Kang screening series to help promote the release of West 32nd. If you haven't been able to see The Motel or Harold and Kumar, you can now for free.
Check it out:
Greetings and Happy (US) Thanksgiving:
Please forward this email to anyone who might be interested in helping out Asian-American movies or just want to enjoy some movies and have a good time. As you might know "West 32nd Street" is now in threaters in the greater Seoul area (Please see letter from director attached below). As my small way of doing a grassroots effort of spreading the word of the movie, I am offering FREE SCREENINGS THIS WEEKEND of the director's first movie (critically acclaimed indy) and John Cho's "Harold and Kumar" (with Korean subtitles) at various times at my Sinchon Screening Room.
The attachment is an Adobe Reader file of the below (minus the director's memo and website links) in a very nicely presentable way with visuals. Feel free to print and distribute as needed.
Another idea would be to plan group screenings where we can meet at selected theatres and times and watch "West 32nd" together and meet up afterwards (perhaps World Cup Stadium or Yongsan). I saw it at the Pusan Film Festival and thought it was the best Korean-American movie ever (okay...there are only a handful), "The Motel" is very charming and "Harold and Kumar" doesn't need an introduction I guess.
All are welcome, but since seating is limited per screening (16 seats), there is a SIMPLE reservation system (1. Reserve on website bulletin board OR 2. Send short email with name, screening time, and cell number OR 3. If NOT near a computer, send text message with name, screening time, and cell number OR 4. Just show up and hope there is room). You can reserve more than one seat. As a courtesy to others, if you cannot show up, please update website, send email, or text with the same info.
Sorry for the short notice, but I thought the sooner the better would be greater than not doing this at all.
