Many people knew me as an actor... maybe even model, dancer or stuntman... But most, never knew me as an assistant director as well...Back in 2008, I had the opportunity to jump behind the camera and work in a production house called Brilliant Emperor Production Ltd. Although I did study filmmaking back in Canada, this was my very first time working professionally in a production crew in Hong Kong. Me, holding the clapboard of "功夫廚神" ("Kung Fu Chefs"). This location was where the foot chase scene took place with Vanness and Ai Kago, right after the fight in the market. We nicknamed this alleyway, "avenue of stars", for production purposes."功夫廚神" ("KUNG FU CHEFS") was released in Hong Kong theaters on September 10th!! Originally, I had only 4 tickets and wanted to watch it with few friends. But on the same day, my colleague called me and asked me if I wanted extra tickets, so I jumped on the opportunity!! I ended up having 36 tickets total and wanted to bring as much friends, family and supporters to watch it with me as possible. So Iposted a message on myTwitter,Facebookand of course, on myAliveNotDead. "Who wants to watch "Kung Fu Chefs", for free, with me tonight?!? I get the tickets and you get the popcorn!"It was awesome!! I ended up watching 3 shows back to back, on the opening night with all my guests!! It might sound like a lot... But after working on it for over 45 days of pre-production, 37 shooting days in china and waiting 452 days for it to come out, I think watching it 3 times in a row was very satisfying!! hahaI was really happy and excited to see the double KFC poster on Parklane, TST that night! I couldn't resist to take a couple of pictures in front of it and there was one with a side kick (posted on the previous entry). While watching it the first time, I totally tried not to think about what happened behind the scenes or while we were shooting it.. Wanted to relax and enjoy the movie...I had a lot of flash backs and memories from the shoot... And plenty of pictures taken on the set... Which you will see in my future blogs! :pP.S. Thanks toYellowrwandMelodymnfor seriously getting me a salted popcorn! That was the only popcorn Ive got the whole night and it was very appreciated!! Yummy!!! Till the next blog, be safe everyone!Michael###p.s. "Things to Do Before I Can't Do Anything Anymore List"
