5:49 AM, haven’t slept tonight so that I will sleep on the plane. Have to leave in about 5 – 10 minutes so that I can make the BART train. China, here I come! I’m off to hang out with some of these guys …

Our group arrived in more-or-less one piece and we got organized and checked in for our flight. By 9:15 all 10 of us had gone through security and made our way to gate G92 at SFO. It was a great send-off by the Wushu West parents and the students are all excited about ...Read more
So, this morning I taught my last wushu class at Wushu West before heading off to China to train for a month. The class itself was pretty good. I had Chase leading the advanced people on one carpet with basics, jumps and combos, while I lead a nanquan basics workshop on the other carpet.
At first I was just going to work on nanquan with two folks, but then a lot of the beginners asked to learn it too. So we had a long line of people learning nanquan basics, which was pretty neat. Basically 90 minutes of nanquan basics and ...Read more
Back in May I made a Mother’s Day Video for my mom. I captured some old VHS footage digitally and then edited it together with Elton John’s Goodbye Yellowbrick Road. At the time I had planned to swap out mom-specific footage with dad-specific footage so that I could make a version for my father on Father’s Day as well.
For those who are you curious I used Sony Vegas 6.0 for both. (I upgraded to 8.0 once, but it was twice the size and way too laggy, so I downgraded back to the version I like best. Sony should pr...Read more
I’ve been blogging for a while now. Probably since before it was called “blogging” and just “writing random crap on your website”. And in general I can be a little OCD about figuring out the best system for whatever I am doing, whether it is organizing photos, electronics, lifestyle design, etc. I really like optimizing my systems (and some time I will explain just what that means on a practical level).
So, before I started getting back in to the swing of blogging I took a look at what would consistitute t...Read more
Just four more days until I head off to China. This last leg of my life in Berkeley has been a good one. This existence I have where I jet off to a new location to live for several weeks at a time, and then go off to another place to live, has been an interesting one.
It has given me a different perspective on things, and I think one of the biggest changes is that...Read more
It has been forever and a day since I blogged regularly. It might still be forever and a day, to be honest. I’m not sure if I’m really into blogging anymore. But I’m going to at least figure out a way to consolidate all my blogging. I am nothing if not a fiend for optimization and organization.

After several days in Sun Valley attending a tourism conference for the State of Idaho, I am finally back in Driggs, working hard to get my projects completed by the time I leave for California on the 25th.
There is a good and bad side to having so much to do in such a tight timeline. The bad is that it limits my free time and ability to take care of things I’d like to do (such as sleep in or take naps). However, the good thing is that is motivates me to work hard and get stu...Read more
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. This is the first time I've been with my mom on Mother's Day in quite a while. I made breakfast and this video for her. Hope you are all having a good one.
