After a week of poor sleeping schedule I decided to force myself back on track and spend a weekend at home, relaxing, cleaning and organizing (my three favorite things in the world).
When I left Pat and Stephen's very late Friday night (actually, very early Saturday morning) I realized that if I went to bed at that time, I would not be helping my schedule at all. The answer (according to my personal experience and the way my own body works) is to force myself to stay up as late as I could, sleep as much as I could and then force myself again until Sunday evening.
So that's what I did.
Instead of going home, I went to the office until around 8 a.m. on Saturday to do some work. Then I went home and putz around a bit until I fell asleep around 9 a.m. When I woke up at 7 p.m. I knew it would all only work if I stayed up as late as I could to Sunday evening.
I spent most of my time cleaning up my home, watching DVDs and running a few casual errands around the neighborhood. But for the most part I tried to enjoy myself. Usually if you're enjoying yourself the time goes by quicker.
The weather was quite spectacular too. Amazing lightening storms all night so I got to stay up and watch that through the sunrise. Pretty awesome stuff, especially from my 26th floor vantage point.
I did doze off for about an hour in the afternoon, but I managed to stay up until around 7 or 8 p.m. Sunday night. At that point I crashed hard. But it paid off. After 12 hours of sleep I got up at 7 a.m. on Monday morning, raring to go and back on schedule.

I kept seeing Marsha's picture on buses on my way to work too. The should put her alive not dead URL up there
I was lucky too, because it coincided with our office's attempt to get everyone on a regular working schedule. So our standard hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (no more 14 hour days, thank goodness), excepting crunch times.
And for the rest of the week it all went quite well. Monday and Tuesday I was able to get up around 7:00 and get in a walk around the neighborhood before work, but Wednesday I overslept a bit and got to work just in the nick of time. Thursday I overslept, but not by as much. But I think it's just my body's way of seeking equilibrium. After waking up at 1 or 2 p.m. for the past 2 weeks, it's going to take a week or so to readjust my body to waking up at 7 or 8 a.m.
Getting on track is harder for some than others. Pat's fondness for Admin bear causes Admin bear to do this ...

But then Thursday night it all went down-hill again as I stayed at work far too late and ended up just crashing on the couch at work. Then Friday was another poker night (which I'll blog about later). So, long story short, it was a good first attempt at getting on track, but not quite there yet. I shall try again the next week.
I should also mention, due to an attempt not to spend too much money, I made pretty good use of my crockpot and brought lunch to work all week. It's kind of nice to have time to do some cooking again.
