I'm jumping ahead to the present so that I can blog a bit about the Let's Fight concerts before they escape my brain completely.
The first concert was on Friday night. After a day or work, we met up with Marina, Bob and KB at the office and grabbed a couple cabs out to Kowloon Bay for the big event.
To be honest, this is only the second concert I've ever been to, and the first one was N*Sync so I'm not sure that really counts (Hey! I got free tickets from Jet with really good seats near the stage. I wasn't going to say no to that no matter who was performing.) That being the case, I wasn't really sure what to expect, especially from a huge line-up of indie bands.
The venue was essentially a huge ware-house type of space. Stage at one end with a VIP side on the left and a press area on the right. Behind that was where the crowd was gathered. Outside in the hallway there were tables selling t-shirts and the like. I grabbed a couple t-shirts and a 24 Herbs guitar pick necklace. Score! ^__^
As I said before, I don't really like the loud, crowded, dark type of places, but what I didn't say was that the one exception that allows me to bear it (in doses) is a performance. If someone is performing I can focus my energy on what they are doing and sort of "lose" myself a bit (and thereby lose my extreme discomfort).
But even with that being the case, I had to walk out of the auditorium once or twice to get some air and de-clutterify my senses.
As for the performances, I really enjoyed Hardpack and 24 Herbs. Hardpack was super fun and 24 Herbs was incredibly tight. If they don't release their album soon I'm going to each of their houses and kick them in the pancreas.
Paul was, of course, Paul. Quite amazing. I took several pictures from the first night (but not really any vids so check etchy's blogsfor his stuff too)

After the concert we filtered out, grabbed some cabs, and headed out to get some dinner. Yeah, it was after midnight, but some folks hadn't had anything to eat in a while.
We went to Korean BBQ which was quite yummy. After gorging ourselves it was taxi-time back to home. I ended up getting to bed around 4:00 a.m. I would need my rest though, because Round 2 of "Let's Fight" was the next day. More of that in the next blog ...
It might look messy, but compared to what some concerts probably look like afterwards, this isn't so bad
