In an attempt to become a bit more efficient here at work and reduce some of the clutter of activity that leaks in to my typical day, I went through and streamlined all my friends and fans connections.
My daily feeds alone were getting ridiculous. There's no way I have time to read all of the blogs on there. And so I would end up just skimming and not really giving any decent attention to those that I am more obligated to follow through on -- like artist blogs or some of my close friends.
So, my new policy is basically, I am only "friends" with people I have actually met in person, artists who have friend-requested me (part of my job), OR people whom I haven't met in person but feel EXTREMELY close to. Random IM chats and the occasional greeting don't really count. My "friends" are now actually my FRIENDS.
I'm not going to be fanning any non-artist-related profiles. All of the people I'm a fan of are there because it's related to my job and/or they are a friend who I have met but hasn't yet accepted my friend request.
It was hard to "cut the fat" (as they say), but in the end it's for the best. I went from around 250+ friends to 174. And i went from being a fan of over 500 profiles to just around 307 profiles. That's going to give me a heap of a lot more time to be productive.
I don't mean any disrespect to anyone, and appologize if this has offended anyone. It wasn't my intention at all. I just need to streamline some of my processes.
In the end, it's for everyone's benefit, since the less time I have to muck around in "My feeds purgatory", the faster new artists and better features/content can be added to the site.
Thanks in advance for your understanding.
