After last month's (dare I say it) "success" in finishing my novel, I decided that what really gave me the ability to follow through and finish the book was the fact that I had a lot of supporters encouraging/cheering/reading along with me. So first, thanks to everyone who participated for that.
But I thought that I shouldn't let something like that end with just one project. So I've decided to pick something else to do this month. What is it?
I call it "25 for 25". What it boils down to is that I'm committing myself to run (or failing that, hobbling) 25 minutes everyday for 25 days.
This is all about using the spirit of the NaNoWriMo for something other than novel writing. The whole point of the NaNoWriMo is to take action. Take action on something you never did because you never set aside the time. Take action on something that you never finished because you worried about it being perfect. Take action on something you never started because you didnt' want to disappoint yourself or someone else by not finishing.
It's not about having the perfect workout. It's not about following the perfect plan. It's ONLY about getting off my lazy butt and doing something besides sitting in front of this computer all day long.
Maybe running 25 minutes for 25 days isn't the best plan, but I don't care. it's a PLAN, and the whole point of this is to DO something ... ANYthing .. and stick to it. I can always revise my approach next month. But for THIS month, it's all about 25 minutes of each day being focused on moving my body in a way that doesn't involve lifting food to my mouth.
Some of you might think "25 minutes isn't very long", to which I can only reply "Well, congratulations on being so physically fit, but for some of us it is. Go home and polish your ego trophies and stop saying callous things that make other people feel bad."
Others might say "You should really supplement with resistence training and make sure you have good nutrition intake" to which I would say "Who asked you? Not I. Go back to Opinion Island and continue your reign as Mayor of Unasked For Advice City."
Or some people might even say "Who cares?" to which I answer "I do. Duh. [insert deliberate eye rolling here]."
So that's what's up. That's what I'm going to do. December 5 - 30. Each day. Every day.
Want to follow along as I try not to barf up a lung? Send me your name and e-mail address (and don't assume I have them, because I don't) and I will add you to my subscrīption list for this challenge as well. Daily blogs (not here, but in a secret, undisclosed location [ooooh. aaaaaah.]) Charts, graphs, videos, pictures and other stuff I'm going to steal off the web. All for your viewing pleasure.
It should be interesting. It should be painful. It should be rewarding. But most of all ... it SHOULD BE.
Thanks.
