The memorial was really well done – hours of wonderful stories – beautiful artwork – photographs, slide shows – stories from Corny’s twin brother and Corny’s children – students – friends – co-workers – models – truly a celebration of this man’s life and all the people he affected and inspired throughout the years.
Here are some photos I took of the accompanying exhibit, “The Fine Art of Corny Cole”. Looking at these drawings sends me right back into the sunday CalArts drawing workshops, sitting on the ground with Corny and his coffee and art tools – listening to him chat with the models as they pose to some interesting loungey/dance music on the boombox – dogs and turtles wandering around on the stage – drawing drawing drawing – all day drawing … breaking for lunch, burger and fries in the CalArts cafeteria – then back to drawing…
Corny had the amazing gift of making people feel special.
Making people believe in themselves and have confidence in themselves.
This is a powerful GIFT –
PAY IT FORWARD
RIP Corny
