Have you heard people who kept going on about how the world is just against them? That nothing is going as it should and everything was falling apart? That they have no faith, blame God and say that God simply is a fragment of one's imagination because God allowed them to have despair? If you haven't, then let me tell you, I was a huge barrel of complaints for all of the above. I have the strangest habit of becoming a hermit whenever I go through dark times. I detested telling people about problems because I felt they had their own to deal with or I didn't want to put a lid on their happiness But holing myself up and gradually fading into a picture of pure melancholy made me wallow in utter bitterness. That's when the God bashing part comes in. Funny how I went that way thinking God was responsible for "allowing bad things to happen" and when good things do happen I casually say "Thank God" but pat myself vigorously on my own back thinking "Well done me". I think when you truly taste pure happiness you can still be susceptible to unhappiness and things not going well. It is just easier to deal with them with a lighter heart than a heavy heart. These days when I face my problems, I stop saying "Dear God please help me do this or do that" I say "Dear God please let Your Will be done" and I trust that whatever happens will be to my advantage and happiness. :)
I'm not someone who likes to impose my religious views on my friends. It is never right to force things down people's throats. Even God gave us choices. Someone once asked, why did God not make everyone perfect then? Well yes He's done it before. Jesus is perfect isn't He? God creates us in a world where we can choose or choose not to believe. In a world which has perfect moments and not so perfect moments. Or else we would just reside in Heaven. That too has already been created. I believe it can be extremely difficult especially when we face issues we cannot share with others because we either fear judgment or we feel they cannot understand. There are people who did rise out of dark situations and really, if you think the world is against you, then think of the times when the world cheers with you! I know I make alot of effort to stay happy now. It requires effort seriously. If you have the effort to be gloomy, thinking of unhappy thoughts then have the energy to encourage yourself.:)
I read this and thought I would share it!
"The world is against me," he said with a sigh.
"Somebody stops every scheme that I try.
The world has me down and it's keeping me there;
I don't get a chance. Oh, the world is unfair!
When a fellow is poor then he can't get a show;
The world is determined to keep him down low."
"What of Abe Lincoln?" I asked. "Would you say
That he was much richer than you are to-day?
He hadn't your chance of making his mark,
And his outlook was often exceedingly dark;
Yet he clung to his purpose with courage most grim
And he got to the top. Was the world against him?"
"What of Ben Franklin? I've oft heard it said
That many a time he went hungry to bed.
He started with nothing but courage to climb,
But patiently struggled and waited his time.
He dangled awhile from real poverty's limb,
Yet he got to the top. Was the world against him?
"I could name you a dozen, yes, hundreds, I guess,
Of poor boys who've patiently climbed to success;
All boys who were down and who struggled alone,
Who'd have thought themselves rich if your fortune they'd known;
Yet they rose in the world you're so quick to condemn,
And I'm asking you now, was the world against them?"
