I was just in Sabah, at Kota Kinnabalu. I went there to visit my pastor, Rev Koo, who is also the chairman for Food For The Hungry International Malaysia. Over a span of a few days I got to see the work they did and are doing for the natives in the jungle. I am very glad to have been there to make friends with the wonderful volunteers and the natives. Food For The Hungry is an organization that helps bring relief in terms of food, and other amenities and assistance for the needy. My pastor told me how they are in the process of building pipes, to serve the drainage system and more toilets have been constructed. Food as well have been brought to provide the hungry with care!
It is wonderful to be part of this group and I will be doing my best to volunteer my time and help in whatever way I can. Being born in this part of the world makes me very fortunate indeed. Other people need our help and hence please remember some of these children and the sick in these places where malaria and cholera strike mercilessly.
I have some photos with my friend's camera, I forgot mine! So give me a while before I post them up.
Aside from this, someone asked me lately what movie I thought was good since I loved so many ranging from arthouse to non arthouse and foreign films.
My answer is : ALOT of movies are good but one poignant movie that etches itself strongly in my mind is After This Our Exile. Directed by Patrick Tam and starring Aaron Kwok.
This is a movie that is very internalized. The amazing acting and great casting did it for me. The details in Malaysia, and the little thoughtful sequences made by the director left me in awe. I loved the character developments and the intensity of this movie. Aaron Kwok is an extremely talented and dedicated actor, I cannot stop gushing about this movie.
Of course if we start asking me what my favourite movies are, I could go on and on about Chungking Express, The Protege, and Farewell To My Concubine, Kitchen ect ect.
And we haven't included Korean and Japanese movies yet. :)
Be inspired and inspire.
