Despite an obvious lack of sleep, I finally finished reading Twilight at 5AM 2 days ago.
I must say that since the last Harry Potter came out I was sad to not having any teenager's story to read. Yeah that's right, I like this kind of literature I think it's relaxing and more magic than adult stories.
Anyway, I totally enjoyed this 1st book and I would love share it with my chinese friends as I saw the book in mandarin version in a bookstore few weeks ago.
I am like probably 99.9% of the fans, fascinated by Edward. Ok he is supposed to be the most gorgeous male creature on Earth but i promise that's not the reason why i like him.
When i read "Interview with a vampire" from Anne Rice, I though her vision of vampires was terribly human and for the first time they were not represented like thirsty monsters but just like damned undead humans. That time (i was 17 if im not wrong), Louis and Lestat feelings were a little complex for me and my poor experience in feelings. I didn't really understand the kind of "love" Anne Rice wanted her vampires to have and I was more like what's the big deal with leaving endlessly without anyone of your kind by your side ?? And come on Louis, human blood must taste better than rat's one...don't be picky hahaha
Edward has this same issue with this eternity of solitude and his predator instinct. Stephenie Meyer was really good at explaining how he could feel and i specially enjoyed the dialogs between Ed (yeah we are close friend haha ) and Bella in the forest.
"- And so the lion fell in love with the lamb...
What a stupid lamb...
What a sick, masochistic lion ..."
Yeah I know, it's a kinda cheesy, but it's ok i expected it before beginning the book so i could handle it. ;) This quote summarizes perfectly the ironical situation between the 2 characters. I loved that. I must be a little cruel to be delighted by this.
I came by curiosity to the Stephenie Meyer's official website and I delightedly discovered she added a playlist at each book. She explained that it was the music she was listening while she was writing the books. So it's like a soundtrack for book. I think this idea pretty funny even brilliant. Listening the playlist and reading how she thought about her characters, the relationship she created between her and the fiction was a very interesting experience. She feed my empathy and she put "Time is running out " by Muse, so she definitively got me hahaha
Hollywood rules being always the same, this best seller has been adapted into a movie.
Ed will played by Robert "Cedric Diggory" Pattinson. It's funny because when HP4 came out I was fan of Cedric and when i saw the trailer of Twilight i couldn't remember who Edward reminded me.
