  • HK whirlwind trip

    Sunday, Oct 5, 2008 8:51PM / Standard Entry / Members only

I just got back from a quick trip to HK.
My main reason was to take part in a award celebration for the Regal airport hotel.
They just got voted as the best airport hotel in the world! Kudos to the Hongkies!
I got a taste of why they earned that prize!
As soon as the plane landed somebody from the hotel escorted me from the plane and guided me through immigration etc. I was very impressed with this guy, because he saw my pics on this blog and he was still able to recognize me underneath my big cap and without wearing make up!
I loved my hotel room so much that I took some pics!
I don't think it's easy to find hotel rooms as large as these in Hong Kong.
My pictures don't even do the room justice...

    I especially loved the bathtub!

Joses and I have been meaning to catch up, but it ain't easy when you live in different cities.
We both attended a charity event for Camp Quality at the Grand Hyatt.

    Bollywood style belly dancers

A very macho male belly dancer

Howard was the main performer of the night. Ginger also sang a beautiful medley.
I was also dragged up the stage to sing. I wouldn't have stuffed myself so much if I had known that beforehand. It's hard to sing when you're stuffed!

There is ALWAYS room for dessert!

It's the first time for us to be all together so we grabbed this chance to take a lot of pics!!

Howard & Ivy are so cute!!

    We're all singers!

Give Min a drink and a cue stick and he's happy!

The start of the art performance. They prepared the background beforehand already

Li Zan used stencils for the Buddha

A dancer provided some extra entertainment

David and Terence getting the Absinthe shots ready

    bottoms up!

The Absinthe kicked in straight away, they started working on eachother's canvas!

    Finished!!
The left painting stands for "Alive" and the right one stands for "not Dead".
Andrew's zombie from hell is spitting this red evilness to the Buddha who turns it into good energy.

As I would stand a chance beating Xiao Ting in Billiard, hahaha!

    Raffi and Loan

It's Daniel's B'day soon so they got a chocolate cake for him

It was a great night, well done to Andrew & Zan, but also David Chau for putting the whole thing together!

  • Nine-Ball

I normally never play pool, but I played billiard the other day with the female champion of Nine Ball in China, Xiao Ting Pan! Her ranking is 3rd in the Women's World 9-ball. We can be proud of this young Chinese beauty!
When I go out with friends to Racks for example, I just watch my friends play and cheer for them. This time I got a lot of tips from the talented Xiao Ting and I will be more keen on playing billiard, yesss!

Here are some mobile phone pics:
She practices every day at her dad's billiard hall.

    Xiao Ting preparing a trick.

I had coffee in one of my favorite cafe's in Taikang Lu
Sunny and I had the special coffee! I really like this coffee maker!

When the water in the gold colored cup starts boiling it will flow into the glass cup. After the glass cup is full, the pressure will make it go back into the golden cup. It takes 8-10 minutes in total.

I just got back from the Milk Mag party. Got there a bit late and a lot of people had already left, but the real gangstas were still there!

  • I LOVE WALL•E!!!

    Wednesday, Sep 24, 2008 12:00PM / Standard Entry / Members only

I'm such a huge fan of the Pixar movies!
Finding Nemo was my number one untill WALL•E came out!
It's a love story between two cute robots.WALL•E looks like the robot version of E.T.
It's amazing how they were able to give the robots all these human like emotions.
Eve for example, just a change in the light in her eyes and she has a totally different emotion.
WALL•E stands for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class. While all the humans have fled to space after the Earth got polluted too much, robots stay behind to clean up the Earth.
WALL•E was the last working robot and the movie starts with him fulfilling his duty accompanied by a cockroach. (yes, cockroaches survive through anything!)
Then he falls in love with Eve who just arrived on Earth. She discovers that WALL•E has an object that decides the fate of mankind...Eve takes it back to the spaceship of the humans and WALL•E chases her and the adventure really takes off!

  • Shanghai fun!

    Monday, Sep 22, 2008 1:09PM / Standard Entry / Members only

It's always so much fun when friends visit us in Shanghai!
Am getting in a certain routine when taking them around.
It's always some touristy places like Yuyuan gardens and the Bund etc. Then there is the local food part!

Here are some more photos from David's visit to Shanghai:
    Meiluocheng in Xujiahui

    karaoke fun!

    Sharon & David

We went to three karaoke party's that night, this one is for Coco's (the girl singing) b'day.

Some northern style hotpot. David, Matt & Elvis.
It's always cool when people are adventurous when it comes to trying new foods!
I had friends who came over, who would've starved if they couldn't get any western food, haha.
So far the Australians have been more adventurous than the Americans...Guess because in Australia it's common to eat things like kangaroo and crocodile meat.

    Xinjiang noodles

    Yuyuan gardens

Guandii, a hip hop club in Fuxing park.

    Brotherly love... a lot...

Who is coming to Shanghai next?
I hope it's one of my sisters...My sister Lily has been saying for several YEARS now that she will come and stay for a while...It's about time now...
