We are casting for the characters below:

 

FEMALE (40 years old) DAW AUNG SAN SUU KYI– the real life Prime Minister elect who is a prisoner in her own country as the Generals have control.  Aged in her 60’s she looks in her 40’s very petite, has an inner beauty.  Nobel prize winner (her son collected it as she wouldn’t leave her Country).  We are not looking for a look a like – it’s the essence that is important.  She went to Oxford University and married a British academic and lived in the UK for many years – hence her accent is more British.  A couple of scenes 63 lines

GUEST LEAD  

 

MALE (late 40s) GENERAL WIN- Late 40’s very tough and difficult to deal with has some confrontational scenes with our hero Teddy Rist. Has about  3 scenes 50 lines- we see him in Prison at the end of the episode. GUEST LEAD

 

MALE (in his 20s) SAW MAUNG- Driver who happens to pick up Teddy. Totally out for himself and wont put himself in danger. Would sell his sister if he could. Should be able to drive… about 8 scenes 37 lines. GOOD ROLE

 

MALE (in his 30s) THANG- Peasant who works in the Ruby mine, his 12 year old daughter is sick in the hospital 7 scenes  7 lines some in Burmese

 

MALE (in his 40s) KHIN- RUBY MINE MANGER – Tough and totally in Control – has one scene with TEDDY about 12 lines

 

MALE (in his 40s – 50s) GENERAL NYO- Above Win and just as threatening. One scene 20 lines

 

Actors applying should have a valid passport and be ready to travel. Knowledge of the Burmese language is a great advantage.

 

Actors who are of Burmese nationality should also state that clearly in their submissions.
