Last last monday, ten days ago, I fell down while on assignment photography NJAHS grand opening of the MLS 640 building in the Presidio.
I fell when I tried to walk over this rope barrier that was about slightly above knee height. I had walked over it earlier, so my second time was done with a little more confidence. Well....it turned out that the first step was ok. But with the second step, I did not lift my knee high enough the clear the rope and down I went. I landed with quite a hard fall onto the dirt.
I landed practically face down as I held my two cameras. I must have turned my hands up as I landed because nothing is wrong with the cameras.
My left knee seemed to have taken most of the brunt of the fall. I got up okay. I hobbled around the rest of the day in a little pain finishing up the photographing of the grand opening and the luncheon that followed. I was rode my motorcycle down there too.
Yes I was up all night in order to make it to the event at 8:15am. I did not eat anything in the morning too and was beginning to feel a bit hypoglycemic when I began walking over to the coffee kiosk to buy a cookie. Perhaps that added to my fall. Not to mention my stiff knees at 61 years old.
Two days later my left knee was really swollen and bruised very bad. I could hardly bend my knees. As the days wore on, my ankle began swelling up as well. I saw the doctor that Friday and there was nothing much accept to rest it, keep my feet elevated as much as possible.
The swelling continued and today, day ten, my lower left shin is in pain. I am having trouble walking around today, so I stayed home all day. I think I'll try to get the doctor to look at my injury tomorrow.
