“YOGI BEAR” Movie Review (3D). What IF great things REALLY come in BEARS?
“YOGI BEAR” Press Preview.
If you are a true blue movie buff, ’tis the season where SANTA CLAUS comes a-calling.
There’s bound to be something for everyone, if you are willing to wait.
For kiddos and cartoon lovers, you might want to “unwrap” an animated wildlife flick called “YOGI BEAR”.
This one will surely tickle your fancy, what’s more – the offering comes in glorious 3D.
Behold the boisterous big-boned bears as they leap from the woods right into the cinema screen, in true 3-D style, all ready to take you by the horns.
The ad line says “GOOD THINGS COME IN BEARS”. Right.
So bring your entire family for a romp in the forest park.
“YOGI BEAR” is a classic cartoon dated back eons ago, now returning as a live-action film, vibrant and colourful.
It’s a digestively fun-filled and feel-good movie designed to poke fun at everyone and at situations alike.
The entire shebang is to incite laughter to forget a working day’s blues.
“YOGI BEAR” has an ecological message, dedicated to children to take an interest in the preservation of nature.
In short, it may be about BEARS.
In truth, it has a lot more to say.
Director ERIC BREVIG began his career as a visual-effects artist specializing in 3D theme-park attractions such as Michael Jackson’s
Captain EO.
Hence he shot the film directly in 3D rather than have it converted later.
“YOGI BEAR” is voiced by DAN ACKROYD, his sidekick BOO BOO is JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE’s.
These two bad bears are famous for stealing picnic spreads from park visitors, much to the ire of RANGER SMITH.
But they are about to face a situation worse than anything Yogi has ever gotten them into … Jellystone Park is up for sale!
To cover his mismanagement of city funds and fuel his election campaign, Mayor Brown plans to sell the park to loggers.
Families will no longer be able to experience the natural beauty of the outdoors Jellystone has always provided–and, even worse, YOGI, BOO BOO, and all their friends will be tossed out of the only home they’ve ever known.
Faced with his biggest challenge ever, YOGI must prove he really is “smarter than the average bear,”.
So he and BOO BOO join forces with RANGER SMITH to find a way to save the park from closing forever.
This movie is not without its faults, but considering some of the truly horrendous films that have employed computer generated versions of beloved characters, this one stays faithful to the original cartoons.
You can say that it’s full of comic action,
but it doesn’t over-stay its welcome.
In short,” YOGI BEAR” is a “BEAR-able” film oozing wholesome family fun.
