As you all know, Hong Kong used to be colonized by the British and was handed back to China in 1997. To commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the handover, Fiberops x Know1edge have released the “Mahjong & Moonshine” Stadium jacket.
Mahjong & Moonshine
Mahjong is the most popular game in the Chinese culture all around the world! If you don’t believe me, take a stroll through any China Town and you’ll hear the clacking noise of the Mahjong pieces being shuffled. This is probably in my opinion, the most complex game involving high degrees of skill, strategy, and luck of course.
Moonshine: Although it didn’t originate from Hong Kong slang, it really should be. Illegal smuggling and producing of home-distilled alcohol in the middle of the night (ie: moon light) to avoid arrest for producing illegal liquor…sounds really familiar!
ENJOY THE JACKET. It’s dope or I should say DOPE TOU POK KHAI!
67 (Luk Jhat) is also another slang for Dick or Dumbass. Aly (Fiberops Creative Director)and probably the most Canto-slang speaking mulatto ever, simply thought it was too funny so, he used 67 on this jacket. Honestly, it is very funny!
Pok Khai aka PK is a slang word. Pok Khai literally means FALLS TO THE GROUND but, can also mean something like “Shit” used in many ways in a positive way or a negative way.
For eg; Pok Khai Chai means asshole but Respect Tou Pok Ghai means respect you in the highest form. It’s probably the most used slang in the Cantonese-Hong Kong language.
Causeway Bay is one of the busiest/dopest areas on Hong Kong side. It’s where everything happens. Go there and find out if you are in Hong Kong and make sure to stop by 8FIVE2SHOP.
Also, on another note…You all asked for it and it’s finally here…Daniel Wu’s collection is available online at www.8five2.com. Check it out!
RESPECT TOU POK KHAI!
