It went back to the year 2002 when the OG, the real Zoo York team came to Hong Kong (Jeff Pang, Eli Gesner, Todd Jordan, Danny Supa, Anthony Correa, Forrest Kirby, RB Umali and the young Zerred Basset) came to Hong Kong for their first time, it was a good time. Heard a lot of crazy New York OG skateboarders stories from Harold Hunter ‘R I P’ to Jumonji to this guy Dave, they called him crazy Dave. Jeff was telling me that Dave was a very cool cat but crazy and told me that I had to meet him.
Now, Zoo York’s changed, I still got love for the team but it’s just not the same anymore. Zerred is still holding it down though plus they have D Barley, so it’s all good.
Anyhow, we’ll talk more about Zoo another time, now, I’m going to talk about DQM.
This guy who was known as Crazy Dave was a part of OG Zoo York Skateboards. After Zoo York was sold, many of the original riders left the company and did their own thing, including Dave. He started his own skateboard/sneakers shop called DQM aka Dave’s Quality Meat.
It’s crazy, I’ve seen pictures of the store, e-mailed but never been to the store and never met Dave, somehow we’ve just never been at the same place at the same time. Maybe it’s because, if you have a mutual friend like Jeff (Pang), it’s just what we call instant homies.
Over the years, DQM produced some of the best garments in the industry, especially their New Era Fitted Cap which are on point using a proper fabric and colors, definitely hit the right market to the right people. DQM has also been collaborating with Vans, adidas, and Nike to name a few for their collaboration sneakers.
8FIVE2SHOP has the priviledge to represent DQM here in Hong Kong.
Check out some ill DQM stuff.
