I suddenly had the urge to write a Chinese blog, probably because I just watched an old Cantonese film called "Yi Fan Feng Shun" (Smooth Sailing,) with Wu Feng, Li Xiang Qing and Zheng Jun Mien. They're famous Hong Kong actors from the 50s and 60s. When I was young, my primary school classes were all in the afternoon, so my mornings were always free, I usually just stayed home and watched old black and white films on telly with my grandmother, (there was this telly program called "Cantonese feature films" at 10am daily, and we loved to call it “Cantonese ruined/old films" cause most of them were so old and scratched up.) Maybe that's why I particularly love Hong Kong films from the 50s and 60s, they reminded me of my late grandmother and my old home. I still find the actors from that era so charismatic, they processed a kind of charisma and "stardom" that I rarely find in contemporary actors. My favorite ones are Wu Feng and Zhang Ying Cai (they looked so classy and irresistible in those suits circa. 1950s, and with a fedora too... then forget it! Now why can't men look like that these days!?) With modern technology, a lot of these old films are being re-released on DVDs now, and so I got to stock them up every time I go back to HK!
