About Kimberly-Rose Wolter

Kimberly-Rose Wolter was born and raised in Hawaii. Her mother is Hawaiian, Chinese and Korean dad French, German, Hungarian.

Kim has worked as a writer, producer, director and actor. As a writer Kim's first feature film, "TRE", which she also produced and starred, had its theatrical release in February 2008. "TRE" won Special Jury Prize at San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival and was nominated for The Maverick Award and Kim for Best Actress at The Method Festival. Kim's sophomore script "Knots" a romantic comedy about a dysfunctional family of female wedding planners stars Kim along side Illeana Douglas, Sung Kang and Janel Parrish. Kim's short "Shoot My Life", a satirical short about reality TV, was her directing debut, she also wrote, produced and starred. It screened at The San Diego Asian Film Festival as well as The Palm Springs Short Film Market. She also directed the award nominated PSA, "Preschoolers Reel in the Vote" as well as a number of Leapster spots of the children's channel Sprout. Kim is currently working on her third feature script, "Passing On" as well as her first documentary "Growing Up Hawaiian."

Wolter is a co-founder and Artistic Director VS. Theatre Company. VS. Theatre is dedicated to bringing new work to Los Angeles such as Neil LaBute’s "The Mercy Seat", Pulitzer Prize winner John Patrick Shanley’s "Beggars in the House of Plenty", Edinburgh Fringe First winning play The "Pugilist Specialist" and critically acclaimed, "In Arabia We’d All Be Kings" by Stephen Adly Guirgis, which Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle awarded for Best Production, Best Writing and Best Scenic/Lighting Design. Vs. Theatre Company was recently named “one of the top theater companies of the last decade” by the LA Weekly.

As an actress Wolter played the Eurasian heroine, Sadako Kitabayashi in the world premiere of Velina Hasu Houston's (Tony winner of TEA) "Cultivated Lives" (later renamed Ikebana). She starred in such plays as "The Pugilist Specialist", "Navy Pier" and "The Credeaux Canvas". As a member of La Halau Hanakeaka, a theater company committed to producing new Hawaiian language plays, she performed in "Kaluaiko'olau", the first stage production to be performed in Hawaiian since the overthrow of the Hawaiian Monarchy in 1893.

Other film credits include Eric Byler's short "Ku`ualoha" as well as his first feature film "Charlotte Sometimes", which received, among other accolades, two Independent Spirit Award nominations. Additional theater credits include Carol in David Mamet's "Oleanna", "Desdemona in Goodnight Desdemona, Goodmorning Juliet", Jennifer in "Night Sky" performed at the Odyssey Theatre, Donna in "Hurly Burly". Wolter has appeared in commercials for Michelob Ultra Lite, Hershey’s, Capital One, Pizza Hut and Super Cuts to name a few. She has also modeled in Italian Max, the Japanese magazine Aloha Express as well as a number of catalogues.

Kim had lots of fun of hosting Xbox’s Halo 3 launch party live in New York, a Gears of War party as well as present XBOX 360 to the world at The Shrine Theatre during E3 2005.

Wolter graduated Magna Cum Laude from The School of Theater at the University of Southern California.
