If you are asked to choose a film character that best represents you, who would that be?
I have been rewatching "In the Mood for Love" and I suddenly feel like recently, I am so much like Chow Mo wan (Tony Leung).. No, I am not as handsome or cool as him, and I am not married, but the way he thinks, what he is doing, just reminds me so much of what i have been going through in recent years...people who know me well probably understand what i am saying...
If i am standing in fron...Read more
Read more

went to see "Mongol" today at the SFIFF, couldn't believe that a 2pm screening on weekday was a a full house, guess the oscar nomination definitely helped a bit..
the film is fine, but not as good as i expected. cinematography is superb (beautiful landscapes) and asano tadanobu gives brilliant performance as temudjin (aka genghis khan), while sun hong lei i...Read more
Just wanna ask you guys a hypothetical question:
If you know you can't win a battle (the chance of winning is perhaps less than 1%?), will you still fight?
btw, i just went to see Big Man Japan at SFIFF, and it is definitely one of the most bizarre yet captivating films i have seen in a while, definitely worth to take a look for fans of japanese monster and ultraman films!
SFIFF began last week and there are quite a lot of films I wanted to watch:
Alexandra (enjoyed Sokurov's Russian Ark and the Sun)
Big Man Japan
The Man From London
Mongol (Tadanobu Asano as Genghis Khan)
Still Life (have seen it several times on DVD but wanna see it on the big screen)
Umbrella
Up the Yangtze
Warlords (saw it at Castro! nice! but too bad it is a shorter version 17mins shorter than the dvd i saw)
this year no hk filmmakers come...Read more
Not sure if you guys know that there was a protest at CNN office in San Francisco yesterday. About 2000 people attended the protest, which lasted for more than three hours. The crowds were gathering outside CNN's office and packed the street corners. They were basically asking for an apology from CNN and the firing of the commentator Jack Cafferty.
I am not sure if this is good news material, but as a local news media, when you realize there are thousands of people gathering at the financial district o...Read more
