Using a Pair of Hands to Help Rebuild Their Home|

All these years that I have entered the entertainment circle, besides working hard on my own work, I will also find time to participate in charity events and volunteer work, because I feel that as a public figure you must have the responsibility to help society to promote positive messages. This time I did something I never tried before but it is very meaningful volunteer work, which was personally going to Sichuan as the first group of "Habitat for Humanity" volunteers to go to Pengzhou city's fishing town Taizhi village, using our pair of hands to help rebuild the homes of the locals affected by the earthquake.

When I arrived in Taizhi village at the rebuilding site, I saw everyone quietly immersing themselves working hard on the part they were responsible for. I even saw that they didn't say much, but would just directly go over to help, as if each person knew what tasks their position was responsible for! And the houseowner greeted us with a smile and afterwards would keep shuttling non-stop between the work site to deliver the construction materials. And when I saw her smile that came from the heart, I was even infected by her positive attitude! So I also did not say another word and immediately went to build the house!

Wanting to build a house is really not simple, there are many processes to it that I had never imagined! There were many procedures that I had the chance to participate in, but it allowed me to get some inspiration; this time among the volunteer group were university students who came from all the way in South Korea. I saw they had six or seven people standing in a line, transporting bricks; at that time I was thinking, why should so many people do one thing, wouldn't it be faster if each person each time could carry a few bricks over? But in the end I saw the reality, this method of theirs was the fastest. Carrying over the largest brick, the spirit of a united group could really be felt, and so I also joined their troop. Everyone could work as one to produce such a good result! Although there was a bit of a language barrier between us, but through the action of passing bricks, I could feel our interaction. In fact it was like we were dancing, by our bodies turning and matching with the rhythm, in a blink of an eye we had rapidly transported a couple of hundred bricks across! I am just like this group of Korean university students, we are not professional home builders, but with everyones enthusiasm, coupled with the unity and happy atmosphere to complete this job, I have benefited a great deal from this philosophy!

This is an extremely rare first building experience. What I'm most happy about is that we can use our pair of hands to help them build a house. Even more worthy of gratitude is that we can give them a future, a dream, a new hope! Rebuild a life - for them! Originally this small fishing town had the environment of a beautiful summer resort. I hope that in the future after their house is complete, it will have the potential to run as a guesthouse, this is also a long-term idea. All those concerned about the Sichuan disaster, I really wish to recommend everyone to participate in such a meaningful volunteer work, because this is the most direct way to help using our hands to help build their future. When the chance comes I will definitely go back to see the house I helped to build. I think the feeling of satisfaction will be unprecedented!

I am ready.

Together with the other volunteers I am responsible for one of several construction processes in building a house. Including: starting the brick wall, cutting wood, transporting cement.

The cement is not light at all!

Seeing the brick wall we built step-by-step each day almost complete.

Being able to help others, and also being able to try things one has never been involved in, is really great!

This is a class of university students from Seoul, South Korea. Although we are from different countries, but we have one love, hoping to help the victims rebuild their home as soon as possible.

In the process of delivering bricks, although we didn't converse a lot, but everyone felt very happy.

This grandma is the houseowner, seeing a group of volunteers getting involved in constructing her house, she revealed a happy smile.

Billie also wishes to become a volunteer with us!

prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /
