Don’t you think the young child in the photo is adorable? She was the first new friend that I met when I previously visited Sichuan. Her name is Wenlu. Today happens to be her first birthday (one year old), which also means that she was brought into this world on the day of the devastating 512 earthquake. Children represent the start of a new life, filled with unlimited hope. Looking at her white chubby cheeks, seeing how a little soul is growing up so strongly and healthily in such a tough environment, there really isn’t much that can baffle us! I hope that everybody will continue to pay close attention to the reconstruction work in Sichuan, pass on our love to them.

From over here on this side, I’d like to wish her a Happy Birthday and I hope that she grows tall quickly and is always happy.
