The Chinese Musician’s Association annual awards ceremonyfor the “Ten Best Albums of the Year” and “Ten Best Singles of the Year” is in its15thyear in the running. Each year, many professionals in the popmusic industry come together to judge and select the best musical works of theyear. Not only has this award accumulated various degrees of authority, acclaimand recognition over the past 15 years, it has also become a notable annualevent for many music lovers of Asian pop music. The selection process starts bychoosing songs from each month’s new release list as the initial recommendedselection, and then a panel of judges who meet on set dates throughout the year,discuss and select the best album and best single song of the month.Ultimately, the “Ten Best Albums of the Year” and “Ten Best Singles of theYear” are chosen from these monthly recommendations. Furthermore, according tothe supporters of creative Asian music, judges discussed and debated for a longperiod of time before deciding on which albums and singles were to receivehonorable recognition last year. Awards for the “Ten Best Albums of the Year”will be given to the singer and album producer, and the “Ten Best Singles ofthe Year” will be decided on the songwriter and lyrics composer’s abilities andoriginality.

Two artists, both female, stood out during the selectionprocess this year and have been chosen to receive awards for both “Ten BestAlbums of the Year” and “Ten Best Singles of the Year”. They are Hebe TienFu-Chen with “To Hebe” and Wui Ru-Xuan with “Youya De Ciwei” (Elegant Hedgehog)respectively. Since branching off from girl band S.H.E, Hebe went solo and releasedher first solo album, which received critical acclaim for its maturity inproduction and overall completeness. No matter which aspect of the album, be itthe selection of songs or the performance of the singer, the overall impressionwas surprisingly good and the single “Love!” was also selected for its quality,style and catchy melody.

The appearance of the album cover “Youya De Ciwei” (ElegantHedgehog) was outstanding and the selection of songs on the album was bold andmeaningful. Furthermore, no matter how big or small the music is arranged foreach song, Wei Ru-Xuan is capable of executing amazing vocals, exhibitingexcellent cooperation skills and tacit understanding with production staff. Inthe album, the song “Wo Bushi Shuxuejia” (I’m Not a Mathematician), written andcomposed by Chen Shanni, uses clean and simple words to describe the sticky andhelpless feelings in a relationship between three people. The memorable melodyof the song received high points in the selection process.

Artists who received two awards for songs in theirrespective albums include Jay Chou’s album “Kua Shi Dai” (The Era) and soloartist who branched off from Taiwanese rock band, Totem, Suming Shu Mi-En withhis album “Shou Zhang Geren Chuangzuo Zhuanji” (My First Album). In terms ofmusic production, the album “Kua Shi Dai” (The Era) is still quite satisfying.The style of music and use of songs not only retains a personal style withinthe album, it also contains a great feeling of era. The arrangement of the songlist and the construction of the story began from the creation of the songitself, but it also contains many new elements of trial and error as well asbreakthroughs. It’s a piece of work that seeks differences within itself yetcovers all aspects. Furthermore, in the album “Lian Hua” which was made inmemory of well known musician Hong Yi Feng, Jay Chou and Fang Wen Shancollaborated on a song called “Ah Ba” (Dad). The touching lyrics of the songearned it a spot in the “Ten Best Singles of the Year” award.

Over the past few years, Suming Shu Mi-En has gainedinternational recognition for using his mother language to produce his entirealbum. The style of the album has also cleverly incorporated elements of popmusic. No matter what music style he uses, such as electro, ballad or even oldsongs, he uses them in an exciting way and his singing also well respected. Inthe commemorative City Music Album “Open Taipei”, the song “Zai Zhe ChengshiXiexia Ai” (Write Love in This City) contains an outstanding melody and greatcomposition skills. It doesn’t have extreme ups and downs yet manages tocapture the atmosphere of personal gratitude. At first, the lyricist of thesong named himself as “Shan Ying” in the album, but in reality Suming is thelyricist, composer and performer. After he received his award, Suming expressedthat every creation was like his own baby, and later admitted that he was infact “Shan Ying”. Even though Suming is in touring in America at the moment, hestill celebrated the honor of the award with his family.

Regular award winners such as female music legend Jiang Huiwith her album “Dangshi Yu Jia” (Wanted to Marry) was nominated for the award.Judges were pleased with the albums many different possibilities and attempts,and have found that greater skills were used in music production compared tothe past. After the experiences from trial and error of producing many albums, thestrengths and efforts of Chen Zi-Hong and Jiang Hui were clearly evident inthis album. It has also become a fine example of music using the Taiwanese language.Karen Mok’s album “Precious” has returned to its original purity andsimplicity. Karen closely collaborated with music producer Zhang Ya-Dong, successfullyarranging music and creating an atmosphere for the album. At the same time,Karen was in charge of rearranging the composition of music for the album. Herperformance of each song had depth and was very unique.

Music producer Yan Jue based the song “Kun Zai Taibei”(Stuck in Taipei) on the theme of being a knight, and won the “Annual Ten Best Singlesof the Year” award. The lyrics are lively and fully express the difficulties ofa musician, gaining recognition for its image creation and temperamentqualities. Similarly, singer and song writer master Wei Li-An’s debut and selfproduced album also won an award. The album possesses mature abilities of controllingmusic, and has produced the best music within its abilities. The album is very steady and consistent, and the songs were performed with great depth.

Dan Bao’s debut album “Shoulain Shui” (Disappearing Water)won Ten Best Albums of the Year award. Last year, he collaborated with Japanese5 piece jazz band JABBER LOOP and produced an orchestral style album “Yue Guang”which, once again, won him Ten Best Albums of the Year award. His personalsense of rhythm and incorporating different jazz styles gained the approval ofmany judges on the panel. Furthermore, his ability to combine and mix variousstyles of music to create a new face of a melody and making each song soenjoyable, gained the quickest consensus for being highly recommended.

With regards to the best singles awards, the recommendedsongs that received nearly no objections included works from one of the musicindustries greatest musicians, Jonathan Lee Zhong-Cheng for his self-composedand performed song “Gei Ziji De Ge” (A Song for Me), and ioLeTuan’s “Zhen Shi”(Truth). The melody of the song “Gei Ziji De Ge” (A Song for Me) possessesalmost perfect maturity yet also expresses the easygoing feeling of freedom.The lyrics hit the nail on the head and are not seen as unconventional. Theentire performance of the song is impeccable. On the other hand, ioLeTuan’ssong “Zhen Shi” (Truth) about pursuing dreams and briefly touching on theaspects of soul searching has been described by judges as the song thatpossesses most liveliness of the year!

Another song that possesses liveliness and great energy thatuses rock style music comes from Hong Kong. Denise Ho released her debutMandarin album only last year, and her self-composed and performed song “WuMing” (Nameless) expresses the attitude of giving everything, regardless ofanything, to pursue a dream. There are struggles and contradictions and visionsof stability. Furthermore, the MONKEY PILOT band, consisting of outstanding andprofessional musicians, gained nomination from their single “My Guitar”. Thesong also expresses the hard work on the journey of pursuing a dream, and thelyrics combine extremely well with the melody.

Band’s focus on the understanding and style of an entiresong, capturing the essence of completeness

Many talented bands have shone through this year. Dong ShiZhang’s album “Zhong Shen Hu Taiwan” (All Gods Protect Taiwan) mainly featuresrock music but also adds elements of Taiwan’s local opera music in their songs.Each song has their own place in the album, surprising the listener frombeginning to end. As for MATZKA who uses reggae music as the main style for hissongs, his work last year was very interesting. The lyrics had many sayings andexpressions of the indigenous people, and the main theme of the album was quiteinteresting and complete. The album was produced with consistency, theperformance of the song was done with great potential, and the ability to graspthe feel of the song was great.

This year, the awards ceremony will be held at the end ofMay or beginning of June. Organizers will endeavor to invite all award winnersto attend the event.

　2011年度十大優良專輯暨單曲結果發表 新聞稿內文與圖檔

由「中華音樂人交流協會」所頒發的年度〈十大優良專輯〉及〈十大優良單曲〉進入到第十五屆，每年都召集了許多流行音樂工作者評選出年度的優良作品。十五年來，這個獎項不只累積起相當程度的權威性與代表性，同時也成為許多華語流行音樂愛好者所共同注目的年度盛事。選拔的過程是在每月紀錄當月發行的作品後進行初選，再由評審定期召開季推薦的討論會選出當季推薦之優良專輯與單曲，最後再從這些每一季獲得推薦的作品中選出年度十大優良專輯與單曲。而在去年眾多作品中得到殊榮的專輯和單曲，根據鼓勵華語優秀原創作品的立場，結果終於在評審們討論許久後終於產生。十大專輯方面將會頒獎給歌手以及製作人，而十大單曲部分則是肯定作詞以及作曲者的創意與能力。

　　今年的評選過程中，以同一張專輯同時得到十大專輯以及單曲的作品都是女將，分別有田馥甄的【To Hebe】以及魏如萱【優雅的刺蝟】兩張作品，從S.H.E單飛發行個人專輯的Hebe在專輯的製作成熟度以及完整性都得到很高的評價，不論選歌或是歌手在專輯裡的表現都恰如其分，令人相當驚喜，單曲【Love!】也因為在氣質和旋律性的掌握出眾因而獲選。

　　【優雅的刺蝟】專輯則是在專輯畫面感的呈現相當出色，選歌大膽也有企圖心，魏如萱的Vocal也被認為不論在大編制或是小編制的編曲架構下皆能夠有很好的發揮，與製作人的默契和配合都有很好的展現，專輯中由陳珊妮所創作詞曲的【我不是數學家】以簡潔的文字表達三角關係的膠著和無奈，深刻耐聽的旋律性而高票獲選。

　　以非同一張專輯但也同時拿下雙榜獎項的部分，則有以【跨時代】專輯獲選的周杰倫以及從圖騰樂團單飛發行【首張個人創作專輯】的Suming舒米恩。【跨時代】在製作上仍相當到位，曲風以及歌曲的設定仍保有個人風格但又極富時代感，整體曲序及故事的營造從創作本身出發，但仍有許多新元素的嘗試與突破，是同中求異又面面俱到的作品。而以紀念知名音樂人洪一峰為主題的【戀花】專輯中，由方文山與周杰倫聯手創作的【阿爸】也因令人動容的詞曲搶進年度十大單曲的行列。

　　過去幾年在國際間受到矚目的Suming舒米恩以母語創作整張專輯，專輯風格也將流行元素作巧妙的融合，不論電音或是民謠甚至古調元素的使用都相當精彩，演唱也受到極佳的推崇。在【Open Taipei】城市音樂概念合輯中所收錄的【在這城市寫下愛】一曲，擁有相當優秀旋律的譜寫技巧，沒有澎湃的起伏卻表達出讓人感同身受的氛圍，詞曲作者起先在專輯中以筆名＂山英＂發表，而實際擔任詞曲創作及演唱的Suming在獲知得獎後也表示每個創作都像是他的孩子，因此也表示自己就是山英本人，雖然目前人在美加地區做巡迴演出，但仍和家人及大家一起分享這份榮譽。

　　而得獎的常勝軍，也是歌壇的大姐大江蕙以【當時欲嫁】專輯入選，評審對於專輯中更多可能性的嘗試給予肯定，製作難度也高過以往，經過多張專輯的磨合，陳子鴻與江蕙兩位在這張專輯裡的功力嶄露無遺，也是台語專輯躍進的模範作品。莫文蔚的【寶貝】專輯反璞歸真，與製作人張亞東的合作無間，編曲與氣氛的營造成功，莫文蔚同時也在專輯中包辦整張專輯的作曲部分，演唱也相當有深度並特色十足。

　　以爵士風格為主的創作人嚴爵也以【困在台北】一曲獲選年度十大優良單曲，歌詞生動又完整表達音樂人的辛苦，都會形象及氣質的營造得到肯定。同樣以創作掛帥的歌手韋禮安則以首張個人創作專輯獲選，擁有相當成熟的音樂掌控能力，並在能力範圍內發揮到最好，專輯穩紮穩打，演唱也相當投入。

評審共識度最高　蛋堡【月光】連莊獲獎

展現創作能量　io樂團　何韻詩　旺盛生命力取勝

樂壇歷練累積　李宗盛　MONKEY PILOT　無懈可擊

　　以首張作品【收斂水】得到十大專輯的蛋堡，去年和日本的爵士五重奏JABBER LOOP以樂團形式發表作品【月光】再度連莊獲選十大專輯，以過人的律動感以及爵士元素發揮的最大值而得到多數評審肯定，與各式曲風的融合皆有不同的音樂樣貌卻又首首到位，是最快取得共識獲得推薦的作品。

　　在單曲方面也得到幾乎無異議推薦的作品分別是由歌壇大哥大李宗盛所演唱並創作的【給自己的歌】以及io樂團的【真實】。【給自己的歌】一曲在旋律上擁有接近完美的成熟度但又表達隨性的灑脫，歌詞一針見血且不落俗套，整體演出無懈可擊！而io樂團的【真實】一曲則在夢想的追求與略帶反省的態度上著墨，被評審稱為是去年度最具有生命力的單曲！

　　另一首也相當具有生命力的歌曲，並且也以搖滾曲風呈現的作品則是來自香港，在去年才發行首張個人國語專輯的何韻詩所創作並演唱的【無名】一曲，表現出因追求而付出所有不顧一切的態度，有掙扎有矛盾但也愈見堅定。而由樂壇中許多既專業又優秀的樂手所組成的MONKEY PILOT樂團則以【My Guitar】一曲獲選，歌曲也表達了追求音樂夢想的努力過程，詞曲的契合度高，也有絕佳的表達與能力展現。

樂團著重默契與整體曲風掌握之完整性

　　在樂團方面今年也大放異彩，董事長專輯的【眾神護台灣】專輯以搖滾貫串，加入了台灣本土在地的戲曲元素，每一首歌在專輯裡的位置都相當到位，從頭驚喜到尾。以雷鬼曲風為主的MATZKA則是去年度相當精采的作品，歌詞部分有許多原住民部落具喜感的語法，而整張專輯的主題也都相當有趣並完整，製作相當穩健，主唱的揮灑空間大，掌握度也好。

　　今年度的頒獎典禮將在五月底或六月初舉行，主辦單位也將力邀所有得獎者出席，參與此次的年度盛事。

展现创作能量　io乐团　何韵诗　旺盛生命力取胜

乐坛历练累积　李宗盛　MONKEY PILOT　无懈可击

　　以首张作品【收敛水】得到十大专辑的蛋堡，去年和日本的爵士五重奏JABBER LOOP以乐团形式发表作品【月光】再度连庄获选十大专辑，以过人的律动感以及爵士元素发挥的最大值而得到多数评审肯定，与各式曲风的融合皆有不同的音乐样貌却又首首到位，是最快取得共识获得推荐的作品。

　　在单曲方面也得到几乎无异议推荐的作品分别是由歌坛大哥大李宗盛所演唱并创作的【给自己的歌】以及io乐团的【真实】。【给自己的歌】一曲在旋律上拥有接近完美的成熟度但又表达随性的洒脱，歌词一针见血且不落俗套，整体演出无懈可击！而io乐团的【真实】一曲则在梦想的追求与略带反省的态度上着墨，被评审称为是去年度最具有生命力的单曲！

　　另一首也相当具有生命力的歌曲，并且也以摇滚曲风呈现的作品则是来自香港，在去年才发行首张个人国语专辑的何韵诗所创作并演唱的【无名】一曲，表现出因追求而付出所有不顾一切的态度，有挣扎有矛盾但也愈见坚定。而由乐坛中许多既专业又优秀的乐手所组成的MONKEY PILOT乐团则以【My Guitar】一曲获选，歌曲也表达了追求音乐梦想的努力过程，词曲的契合度高，也有绝佳的表达与能力展现。

乐团着重默契与整体曲风掌握之完整性

董事长　MATZKA　独树一格　双双入榜

　　在乐团方面今年也大放异彩，董事长专辑的【众神护台湾】专辑以摇滚贯串，加入了台湾本土在地的戏曲元素，每一首歌在专辑裡的位置都相当到位，从头惊喜到尾。以雷鬼曲风为主的MATZKA则是去年度相当精采的作品，歌词部分有许多原住民部落具喜感的语法，而整张专辑的主题也都相当有趣并完整，製作相当稳健，主唱的挥洒空间大，掌握度也好。

　　今年度的颁奖典礼将在五月底或六月初举行，主办单位也将力邀所有得奖者出席，参与此次的年度盛事。
