September 6th - HK Live! @ Fringe Club

It's always a ripsnorter going to watch local bands in their element, and especially inspiring for me as a sometimes-guitarist and occasional jam sessioner.  Really all I wanted to do at the most recent HK Live! was do some mild headbanging and sink a few cold pints, but in the end my trigger finger got the better of me once more despite not being there on "official duty".  Perhaps it was the alivenotdead.com sponsorship of the event and my recent elevation to artist status which acted as a subconscious spur!

I previously shot The Lovesong at Clockenflap for Kee Club Magazine - http://www.flickr.com/photos/justinlim/2191842080/ and it was good getting a chance to shoot them again at an intimate club venue like the Fringe.  They bring a lot of passion to the stage and it's not just a simple manic thrash fest - hopefully the professionalism and pride that shines in their live performances comes through in the pics.  Second act Dr. Eggs and their practifired up the crowd with a kooky, eclectic strut and high-stepping kick that wowed the mini mosh-pit.  By the time The Dorques got on, I was admittedly a little worse for wear but they were visually quite an interesting subject (as well as sonically, natch). 

Thanks to two of my fellow jam sessioners, Eddie and Jon, for keeping me company.  Another good night out.

In other news I received a text that some of my interior design photos are being published in Elle Decoration magazine this month.  I haven't received a copy yet so I'll admit to having absolutely zero idea as to what snaps are currently assaulting the eyes of the innocent readership of that particular magazine!  Apologies in advance...
