Avex

Just a couple of weeks ago, we officially announced that I would be signing with record label Avex in Japan and joining the ranks of Ayumi Hamasaki, Exile, V6 and my favorite, Namie Amuro.  Although going forth, I will be spending much of my time in Japan, I am by no means leaving Hong Kong and will definitely not let you guys forget about me, haha.

Anyhow, things have been moving quickly since then.  Right after Spectrum press conference, I headed straight for Tokyo where I began my first round of work with my new colleagues at Avex.

The first thing we did when I arrived was attend a TVSQ (东方神起) concert at a packed Tokyo Dome.  Since I had never been to the Dome before, I really wasn’t expecting the 60,000 screaming fans there.  Even with TVSQ semi-disbanded (with only three members remaining), it didn’t seem to make an ounce of difference to the tens of thousands present.  They of course put on an awesome show all the same.  While I sat in awe, my colleagues took the chance to tell me that they had high hopes for me :P

The real work took place over the next couple of days as I did my first photo shoot for Avex and a series of press interviews with a number of local magazines.  While enjoying my new image as designed by a team of great stylists, I tried my hardest to communicate with the interviewing journalists in my broken Japanese mixed in with lots of English (with the help of our wonderful interpreter Kyoko san of course).

During my week-long stay in Tokyo, I was properly introduced to many of the Avex staff.  Part of this introductory process included a morning salutation to an entire floor of over a hundred Avex staff as well as a wonderful cocktail meet-and-greet with the sixty or so members who I would be in contact with more regularly.  All I can say is that outside of thoroughly enjoying the warmth emanating from such an awesome team, I also became exceedingly excited about the music-making months ahead.  I’m actually scheduled to be in Tokyo training/recording for the month of July and will be making my live Japanese debut in August, so we’ll see if I can let you guys in on more behind the scenes!  Signing off…for now ☺
